It was alright. I mostly kept to myself, most of the teachers I had were great though. I loved the orchestra class I had. The AVID course helped prepare me for college as well.
The best band teachers in 4 state area. Fix the lunches and some policies about technology. The sports programs are ok but maybe need coaches that want to stay for more than a year or two. Security feels a little laced in this day of so much violence which can cause some concerns for the teachers and students. The band and choir classes could use some more support by the school.
There are various opportunities for students academic success in Independence Senior High School with a welcoming environment.
With exception to some, IHS has a lot of very good teachers that are also very good people outside of school.
I went to Independence Sr High school from 2018 - 2021. It was a great school to go to. The school culture is great, along with all the staff and administrators. Everyone is very friendly and is always pushing you to work harder.
I really liked the support I received. Tge opportunities to participate in sports really appealed to me. I also like how many college credits I could earn without leaving campus.
My experience with Independence High School has been average. Many classes are offered at this school. Additionally, administration, especially the school superintendent truly cares about students which is a breath of fresh air. However, the school is not equipped to prepare students for career or college situations, unfortunately.
Independence Senior High school was the singlehandedly most amazing high school experience I've known of compared to my friends from out of town. Our diversity and inclusivity is great, respect towards teachers and staff is fantastic, and the overall education system and school setup in general is outstanding. I may not have done great in high school, bu that had nothing to do with the quality of this incredible school district. My teachers and counselors did everything that they could to help me and I should've taken advantage of that when I had the chance to. I thank everyone who works for or who has ever worked for Independence Senior High and pray that current and future students don't take opportunities like this for granted.
The teachers were overall very interactive, there were some teachers who would pass students because of their athletic status.
Independence Senior High School is a great place to go to high school, especially if you are interested in music. The music/drama department is outstanding; they are known for them. There are a lot of opportunities to join a club or sport. However, there are students in the hallways that seem unsafe for the school environment. Staff will call students, that are clean and do not illegal activities, in and drug test them, while there are many other students, who do illegal things, roaming the halls that don't get tested.
I have lived in Independence all my life. The High School has been great I have made a lot of wonderful Friends. I have made many memories. The are like every school some great teachers and some bad teachers. The guidence office is great If you have Mr Carnes . He is always so helpful and always gets the process going
Our Senior High School is mostly a positive experience. I feel that our teachers are extremely helpful, and care a lot about our education. Throughout the counseling department we have several adults that hope to see us succeed during as well as after high school. We have a lot of help with scholarship opportunities that our administration sends us to help with money. The entire school has a positive and happy vibe that helps all of our fantastic students with the motivation to be more optimistic and successful. This carries over into our sports programs where we have coaches and a support staff in our teammates as well as fans that makes us as athletes ecstatic to compete. Overall I will have a lasting effect from the many fantastic teacher, classes, students, administration, and sports. I would rate Independence High School as the best high school not only in Montgomery County, but in the entire state in atmosphere and happiness.
I like that my school has built a good fine arts program, but I wish that we could become a more well-rounded school with more opportunities.
The education is not wide ranged and there aren't alot of options in what classes you take. Teachers are helpful and nice though.
Independence Senior High School is a pretty decent place to get an education. I have attended throughout my entire high school career and will be graduating May of 2018. Many of the teachers are willing to help kids out, and there is a large amount of graduates who further themselves in either military or college experience. A downfall, however, seems to be the ever-rotating administration. As a senior, I have experienced two different counselors assigned to me, as well as three different principals throughout my years. A more fixed staff might help.
Everyday feels like you are welcomed because of the awesome office staff! They do good to make sure we are ok but not everyone may agree with me.
The people are enjoyable, but the food and certain other things could be fixed. There is a lot of focus on academics and clubs and sports however there is no focus on college readiness. Yes there are college classes you can take and workshops for the act but other than that there is no help to prepare you for college. The facility is nice however some of the staff that run it are not the same. When i walk into a classroom i want to learn something not just have a teacher give me a packet and tell me to do it when i know nothing about it.
