A lot of people will tell you "don't go here." They attribute this to the fact that there are a lot of kids here who maybe aren't the best. But once you get over that fact (it's easy! Just ignore them) you start to find wonderful opportunities. Take Ms Banack or Dr Siesel as examples. They were my English and Biology teachers this year, and they were AMAZING. The STEAM Academy here is also quite developed, and as a result the STEM clubs are really enjoyable. Take this school's reputation with a grain of salt; it really isn't as bad as they say.
Overall I've had the best experiences, we have rallies here and they're very fun and all the dances are very lively. This school focuses more on active than academics so it brings everyone's mental health up more and all the teachers are very nice and not strict which makes school a lot better. And the teachers are always ready to help prepare us for colleges too! Clubs and activities meet up's are very funny and everyone gets a good laugh out of the day! Mostly everyone I've met on my path is really sweet and helps each other out and accompany each other, which is a good thing for people who are very vulnerable because we finally feel safe with company if that makes sense at all. The classes aren't too hard if you put in half the effort mostly!
Independence invests well in certain clubs, if you are part of those clubs, you will have a good experience.
We have a lot of opportunities in sports, steam, and the arts, from the Olympic swimming pool to the 3D printer lab and woodshop, to the theater.
Covid was unfortunate, making me miss the opportunities I would have had.
This is by far not the greatest school out there, but if you do go to this school, make the most of it!
