Independence High School Reviews
Rating 3.71 out of 5 365 reviews
I transferred to Independence halfway through my freshman year. I had gone from going to school with people I had known for years and grown up with, to strangers. That experience is jarring for anyone, but covid made the transition particularly alienating. Going into my sophomore and junior years, I became more acclimated to the school's supportive and academically minded atmosphere. My teachers, and even peers, pushed me and others to achieve our full potential and push boundaries in both academic and social realms. My teachers have personally been a major support system and motivation factor when my parents were not. I would not be the determined and confident person I am today without the reassurance and support of the people at Independence High School.
My experience at Independence has been the best so far. All the teachers have such a unique way of introducing everyone, especially the AP world history teacher, Mr. Hallum. He made me who I am today, I was really struggling and managed to befriend him and have someone to talk to when I felt hopeless. All the people in Independence are so welcoming. The clubs are amazing, I myself am involved in more than 6+ clubs not including sports and in every club there is a different community that always accept people with open arms. I have loved every moment of my High School experience due to the community. In a way, i am grateful to have attended Independence as the school I would spend four years in. Everything is amazing and continues to be, STUCO always tries hard alongside Ms. Marshall to show off our school spirit which empowers the school overall. All the afterschool activities are always super fun and entertaining due to STUCO. Overall, Independence High School is really outstanding.
Independence High School is a really good school to be in because everyone is nice, respectful, and helpful. All the teachers do their jobs and assist me on assignments or with other things that I really need help on. The teachers also try to make sure that the students are successful and do their work for them to discipline themselves to do it so that when they become adults they can use that disciplinary skill to be able to reach their goals for their careers after high school. The school has fun games that students can participate in or for those who want to watch it and support their team. Their communication is excellent because they always send out emails about events coming up and for the students and parents to receive important announcements about things that they need or want to know about. Whenever parents need information about something that they don't understand, they will be given a straight answer to make sure that the parents get the information that they want.
