Independence High School Reviews

This school has given me a lot of opportunities to take classes that aren't offered anywhere else. I have been able to take community college classes and AP classes while still being in highschool. This has let me get tons of college credit and experience in college level classes. It is not a big school but since it is smaller it gives so many more opportunities such as being able to play basically any sport you want. Independence High School has so much to offer academically, athletically, and socially.
I came there to independence as young girl coming from Africa. I barely knew English.it was hard for me to communicate with other students. They putted effort for me to understand the language. I put it in my time and effort so I can be like other kids. Do far I have had the best experience by being at independence high school.I learned how to be patient and respectful as a person. Independence has been a life experience for me because of what I learned being there. Academics speaking improved a lot I am a person who cares about my grades a lot.Usually I set higher goals for myself when I don’t achieve those goals it hurts me deeply. Based on where I come from I never thought I’ll get here but here I am thankful for the experience that I’ve had with both teachers and students. At the start of the year I was lost and confused on how the year was going to go for me. I had no friends some of them left me. That didn’t stop me from liking where I am and appreciating what I have in general.
I started high school in 2021 when I just came to the United States. I started as a freshman, and it was really hard for me because I just moved to the United States and did not understand English very well and I also did not have any friends. I did not like the fact the students go smoke in the bathroom and other student bring bullied because they from African. but letter on when I was a junior the school changed a lot of stuff which helped the school a lot. like security was added, before entering the school your checked like in the airport, if any student is reported for bullying, they will get expel and there is no fighting anymore. it's always clean now. and the teaches are super supportive. the school lunch is also improved and there are a lot of games to play in classes when we have nothing to do. it is well developed and safe to be there.
