Independence is a great school in terms of academics and diversity. That being said, there needs to be a better appreciation of the diverse population. I've gone to multiple schools in the county, and Indy is the one that seems to be the least celebratory of minorities. Other than that, it's a good school.
This school is amazing! Having transferred from a much smaller school, Independence offers so many more opportunities for academics, athletics, and the arts.
It was a great high school experience, Great staff and amazing environment. Teachers are super helpful and are always there for their students.
Independence High School is always so welcoming. Staff makes sure to greet students and takes the time to ask questions about how they are and learn about each individual. They also make sure learning is fun and we as students are interested by using innovation to create a better classroom space. The best parts of Independence were always the pep rallies or special events. All the students always came together and cheered for their friends and even people they didn't know. The space was inclusive to all. The worst part was starting during Covid. There were a lot of what ifs which made the first experience hard and not very enjoyable. One thing I would like to see changed is dedication to sports teams. Our school doesn't always focus on all the sports and it would be nice to see all sports posted about and shown highlights of around the school rather than just the main ones being football and basketball.
Somehow this is genuinely just a bubble where the worst facets of man’s fractured psyche manifest in shallow, self-centered, egotistical children who spend their daddy’s money to drive beamers and vape in bathrooms. I wish I had gone to any other high school in Loudoun. If you have a choice, avoid this horrible institution.
Independence High School is a great school to attend in Loudoun County and rated as one of the better academic schools in the state. Indy, has a diverse population and is inclusive to all of the students. The school is new and the buildings are beautifully designed. Indy is the home of the tiger and shows school spirit with it's red, white and blue colors. Many courses are available including Honors, AP and DE classes. Indy has beena great place to spend my four years of high school.
I've loved my time at Independence High School. The academics in general are very good, and I have had fantastic teachers. I've also made some of my lifelong friends there, and the general school spirit is very high. The best part for me is how open the teachers are to talking with students, but the worst part for me was the difficulty of creating a club. I've tried creating two clubs at the school, and only one got approved. In general, clubs at Independence are not very strong, and there is very little support and help when a student creates one. This has resulted in a very big lack of clubs. I think something that could easily fix this issue is spending less money on assemblies and much more money on school club funding.
I was part of the first graduating class and absolutely loved the sense of community and school spirit. The staff made great efforts to make students feel included which I hadn't seen before. The physical building is beautiful and brings a positive vibe to a place students are required to attend for long hours almost daily.
A great school with a tightly knit community and great staff who make sure your time there is fulfilling and enriching, and who make sure you attempt to succeed. With numerous facilities for academics, arts, and sports, this school is a top school in the LCPS school district.
Independence HS was a great place to be. Especially with Covid hitting during my freshmen year in High school, the faculty was really supportive and offered many tools to ensure we grow better as students. Teachers were very understanding and communicative during distance learning and really put in their efforts to make sure students both in virtual and hybrid didn’t lack anything. They made the transition from distance learning back into person more easier. Overall, Indy is a great place to be, especially since there are people that work towards each individual’s success regardless of the troubles faced.

I arrived at the school the first year it opened as a sophomore. By far this was the best decision, I made life long friends and mentors. The teachers were always enthusiastic about teaching and forever willing to help students. I loved the culture and the fun things we did as a school together.

The best part about attending Independence was the student spirit, access to great teachers, and the work
load. The worst parts of my experience were the diversity of the school and late policy. We could only get up to 2 tardies a quarter and if you received 3, you got lunch detention. I thought this was unnecessary because it just caused students to speed to school, run to school, and it decreased students' motivation to attend school.

My experience at Independence High School has been great so far. The teachers are cooperative and are so kind. The students that attend this high school also are very generous. The pep rallies are fun and exciting to attend. There are fun spirit days where you dress up according to what the day is. There is a coffee shop that sells many food items and drinks. You can also just sit there with friends. We also have a homeroom every Wednesday and it is called tiger time instead, due to our mascot, and it is a great way to make new friends and learn a quick lesson or to spread awareness to a topic/issue.
The school is awesome, atmosphere is great, we have the best school spirit. I love how involved our school is with all of its students, the teachers come to our games and support us. The only reason I am giving it four stars is because the lunch could be a lot better. I would love to see us have more, tastier and healthier options.
I like that Independence High School is big and new. The school is among a large number of others in Loudoun County, but is still very populated. Because of this, it is not a challenge for me to make friends. The education and counseling at the school promotes me and helps lead me along the path to my future academics.
