When I first started as an Independence High Magnet student in August of 2020, I didn't get a very good first impression. The facilities were unclean, the meals weren't that great, and there were fights very frequently. On top of that, we were still in the middle of the pandemic. However, the school improved dramatically over the next three years. They cracked down on fights, hired more teachers, and made me look forward to lunchtime. It's a rather small school, so everybody knows each other. The tight-knit community makes it hard not to make a few friends. The teachers are friendly as well, and very passionate. They allow their students to get creative once in a while, and you can go to them with any of your problems. They still haven't managed to keep the restrooms clean, though.
The teachers, academics, sports, and parents involvement. The school activities are great and the teachers help you plan and get ready for college.
i loved most of my teachers they helped me to get threw all my years of high school the the power of believed in me when no one else believed in me and that really touched and helped my mindset that they really do have teachers that care about there students and one thing i would change is the phone policy because its a high school i know we shouldnt be on our phone during class but recess we should atleat be able to use them on our free time
Independence High Magnet School is one of the best schools in Louisiana. My years of high school were wonderful and exciting. I made many friends who were always their for me. At Indy high, our students are friendly and respectful. The teachers are very helpful when it comers to helping with work. Our principal, Ms.Collier, provides great support to our students, she is an effective listener, and she empowers others. Their isn't a lot of homework that the teachers give but, they teach a lot in the classrooms. Our Friday night football games are very fun and everyone comes to support our players. Prom is the most exciting time of the year. Coming to Indy High, you'll have the best high school years ever !
I would like to see the school spirit and sports change. Our sports teams need improvement and more motivation. Only a hand full of students at Indy high actually bring forth tiger pride. Our school hallways still look like they looked back in the day. We need more school colors around our school so it wouldn’t be so dull. The good things about Indy high would be the fact that everyone knows everyone. It’s a small school. When everyone knows one another we become closer as a school.
I've attended IHMS all 4 years. I loved how Administration knew us all by name. The teachers were just like a second set of parents teaching us about both things needed inside the classroom and things needed outside in the real word. The only thing I want to see changed is to have a larger student body.
The school is a good place to go but there are some people that just don’t want to learn and that causes everyone else to get distracted
I've only really been here roughly around 4 months and it was a new experience. The attitude with the students are horrible towards teachers. Teachers don't have a say so in their own classroom. They have to call the front office for everything. That's why there is no respect here, but the only ones who get respect are the friend teachers.
It was great to be there . I met so many people. The class that I graduated with, we still keep contact . The class of 14’ was a very close family . It didnt matter what race you were , we all had love for each other.
What I like the most about Independence High Magnet School, was the food they prepare and serve for lunch. It was the best in all the parish of Tangipahoa.
My school may not be the biggest or the best for that matter. However this school has taught me things inside and out the class room. The bond between students and teachers is amazing. I feel at home!
There were some bad and good days.
They taught me what I needed to know.
It definitely prepared me for college
They need more experience teachers
It need improvement from the staff to be great
Bullying is not a big issue at school but it should it's not only real but everywhere and in different outlets.
