Being an all girl's school, you can expect for there to be cattiness and drama. To all you incoming freshman who are contemplating taking algebra pre-AP, don't do it. You get stuck with the meanest teacher, and have a better chance of not getting her by taking regular math. There are definitely some genuine people that really try to make a difference in their student's lives, and I'm lucky to have been taught by them. The modular system is fantastic, and definitely pays off in college. The food is overall pretty good, and it's great wearing uniforms because nobody is worrying about anybody else because we're all wearing the same thing. There are certain mothers that graduated in what seems like 1960, and are still looming around the halls being busy bodies. Overall, I enjoyed my high school years and got a fantastic education.
I have been challenged and have shown myself that I can overcome difficult encounters. I love my school and I know my parents have sacrificed a lot to send me here. I appreciate the all-girl environment, I have been able to focus on what is important, my future. The school spirit is self-evident, but sometimes I feel that the students involve themselves too much with what is not important. The modular system them by school follows has enabled the students to emulate a college schedule, which I feel has prepared me the most. If I could do it all over again, I would still choose Incarnate Word. There will always be things that we wish we can change, but overall, I feel at home. The grass is always green when there are shamrocks!
This school is rigorous, but it really prepares you for college. It compacts a college-like schedule into a typical high school day. The teachers and staff are very friendly. Teachers want you to do your absolute best, but that cannot happen if you do not wish to be your absolute best. You build amazing relationships with teachers and students that become your friends. I am very happy with my choice to attend Incarnate Word High School and I hope you get to experience this school first hand.
