Incarnate Word Academy is easily the best school in the Corpus Christi area. Unfortunately, that's not saying much, considering other schools in the area. The school advertises rigorous academics and high standards, and, while the echoes of those standards can be seen thorughout the curriculum, it rarely comes to fruition. Most of the teachers are retired CCISD, and may have been excellent teachers back in the day, but are now scarcely able to teach a coherent lesson. Despite this, many students are highly intelligent and diligent learners, which helps to foster a more competitive academic environment. In terms of the students, many are rich, haughty, vain, and out of touch with the rest of the world, but many are also kind, respectful, honest, and have a great sense of integrity. There are very little issues with drugs, violence, etc, and the overall environment is Christian, and very safe. In summary, it could be better in more than a few aspects, but is overall a very good school.
I recently moved from a public school to the Private school of Incarnate Word - Corpus Christi. It has been the best experience. I have grown in my academic knowledge by being required and motivated to go above and beyond to achieve in my academic learning. The staff at Incarnate Word have been supportive and welcoming towards me which has made the transition easier than I expected. The rigor of the academics has opened my eyes to the expectations of what college life might be like. With the expectations and rigor at the standard excellence. I feel more prepared and am ready for the challenge of my college education.
My experience here at IWA has been great! All of the courses help prepare you for college and they offer a good amount of dual enrollment classes and have sat/act practice classes as well. The well rounded environment has made me feel welcomed, safe, and at home. I would like to see change in the student involvement aspect. I believe that doing so would encourage other students to attend and engage current students to appreciate their campus more.
