Very friendly atmosphere. My children love going to school every day. Communication is done is several different ways. Teachers are always willing to help. Affordable tuition. I know they are safe when they go to school each day. The school is in a very violent part of Chicago, but they have safety measures put in place. My oldest was there for 9 years and we never had any problems.
Some of the teachers are evil, some are really good.
Behavior - bullying, etc is not an issue. Teachers are too invested in the students to let something like that happen
They LIVE for their sports there- especially football. Other clubs are an afterthought. After school activities are largely for the purpose of day care, not really teaching anything.
If you aren't a firefighter or a police officer, your kid is not going to be "one of the guys." The parents are a very hard drinking group, as a whole, the football team parents were reprimanded for drinking BEFORE the elementary school football games. The teachers are great - so my kid is there for the education, not for the friends. They're all nice to him in school and everything, but 95% of the parties are cop families only. Our family is a total after thought.
The school is very modern and up to date. A new gymnasium was built in 2010. Not only is the school modern, but it is also a blue ribbon school which makes it one of the best around academically. Teachers know the criteria to make every student succeed and let them move on to the next stage academically.
Having gone to this school for 10 years of my life, it became a second home to me. I always felt welcomed and never had to worry about my safety because of the the fantastic location of this school on the NW side of Chicago. I will forever be thankful that my parents decided to send me to Immaculate Conception School, one of the best in the Chicagoland area.
