Academically, the school did not prepare me for college. There needs to be a lot of change when it comes to inclusivity and diversity. As of 2019, it was not until students complained, that the school featured more students of color on the website. As a Catholic school, they come across as not being open minded, bringing a girl to prom/formals, is not allowed, due to the beliefs of the Catholic church. IC is a small school, so the clique mentality is evident and you can’t really meet new people. There needs to be more resources for ALL students to get involved, not sure how the process is done, but NOT everyone is chosen to be a Blue Wolf Ambassador, which is a tour guide for incoming students. It seems like there is more preferential treatment toward students that are involved in student life activities, such as Softball or student council. In regards to having safe spaces to talk about issues, there should be support groups like; Black Student Association, LatinX, LGBTQIA etc.
Sending my daughter to IC was the best decision that I have ever made. She is currently a sophomore and is doing well academically because of the fantastic, caring teachers that ensure that she strive for excellence. The rules apply to everyone and there doesn't seem to be a hierarchy of cliques or favoritism. My daughter has an extended family at IC in both the administration and her colleagues. She comes straight home from school and studies for several hours. I am so very impressed with her new found work ethic and I attribute it to the faculty and school curriculum. Sports are a plus there with coaches that go above and beyond for each girl/team. The school is spotless and the grounds are impeccable. It is so worth the tuition and I know that my daughter will succeed in college and life because of this outstanding academic institution.
I have had a great experience at Immaculate Conception so far. Some of the things I like about it is that the people are very inclusive. From the moment you step into the school, you feel like you're surrounded by family. I also like how you're encouraged to get involved in different activities. Immaculate Conception also offers college classes, so you can start earning credits to transfer over to college. The only thing I would like to see at Immaculate Conception is more electives.
