Ilwaco Senior High School Reviews
Rating 3.45 out of 5 31 reviews
School is never an easy subject to discuss. In my opinion, It’s as though nothing can be argued nor denied upon this matter. Like many things, there are pros and cons; education, better training, preparation. These would all be considered pros. The cons only pertain to what you struggle with. I believe Ilwaco High School is a connected, diverse school, which allows students to better themselves individually, and within a community that shows love and support. Although it is a relatively minuscule population, it deepens the bonds of students and academics, as well as strengthens what we learn from our staff and faculty. There is absolutely nothing I would change about this school. The good simply outweighs the bad — not that there really is any. From my experience, I was able to form critical thinking skills along with my own independent ideals while in attendance, and I believe that it has shaped me to the person that I am today. The school is great; teachers and students alike.
I’ve lived on the peninsula for practically my whole life, and in that time I’ve met countless wonderful people who help shape this great community. I believe that Ilwaco high directly reflects that community mindset in how kind and helpful our students and teachers are. Inclusivity in several activities is practically plain to see, and there are enough opportunities, academic or otherwise, for students to get involved. For students struggling with class work due-dates or merely grasping information, I wish there were more avenues to help those wanting or needing to improve; I find that many students are falling behind, especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic and online classes. However, I believe most of our educators really want us to succeed whether we think we can or not, and that is so important in students’ success.
I enjoyed the encouragement of the teachers. They all encouraged me to do my best and supported me in every area of my education including extracurricular activities. I felt sort of like an outsider when I first started taking classes but the teachers soon all made me feel welcome.
