They really push academics and have a lot of college level courses in multiple STEM topics. If the subject of the class interests you, it's very likely that you will love the course. Although they offer numerous sports, the coaches aren't always qualified, nor are the students playing. There are numerous opportunities for research and internships and clubs, which is probably IMSA's highest quality. The main issue that I would like fixed at IMSA is the lack of communication between administration and the students and the number of resources they have for struggling students. The students live on campus and therefore their whole lives revolve around the school and with them not being allowed in discussions for the direction the school is moving in, or having access to mental health resources, the school often feels as though it is trapping them rather than helping them to expand their abilities.

IMSA is a boarding school so there are many responsibilities students take on along with academics. The challenge of the school was definitely a combination of both living and curriculum although the advanced curriculum was the greater of the two. Countering these challenges, the school offers on site tutoring, many places to study quietly, a writing center, and interactive preparation for college. These resources help students academically while its many clubs and on campus activities create a memorable and positive living environment.
The campus is very serene and wide and the tight-knit community is accepting of students of all backgrounds and experiences.
I love IMSA! There is a great balance of academic and social opportunities. The people that you meet and the opportunities/experience you will gain is priceless Personally, I feel like the academic support for minorities could definitely be stronger, nevertheless it's still a great institution.
