It was an overall great experience. Loved the team work and how everyone expressed themselves. Everyone had their own opinions whether it was a class event or an entire school event just to make students want to attend the school. At the end of the day, students, teachers and staff were amazed how the school overall had improved.
Idea Walzem has a great academic program. One good thing is that I’ve been able to have my knowledge challenged since moving to this school right before 6th grade. Issues I have is they seem to always lose teachers because they don’t treat them right. Another thing is their strictness over unnecessary things compared to important issues. I would like to see a change in their priorities. They also have really bad communication skills.
This charter school is unique. Though in some areas the school lacks, the relationships you establish with teachers is fundamental. Every staff member there connects with you and makes sure you are on the road for success.
My overall experience with Idea Walzem was quite crazy. So many things have happened and sometimes, since the school is so hectic and small it makes you feel as if you are nothing.
We are new to IDEA Walzem College Prep and we are amazed at the personalized attention that teachers, staff and leadership provide to the students. We were totally not used to this, and we love it! We feel our kids are not just a number here. I recommend it without any reservations.
My experience at Idea Walzem was fairly great! My teachers were always there to provide endless support and make sure that I was on top of things no matter the circumstances, and I wasn’t just a number there. However, for future students, I would like to see more variety in the AP classes they can take. I know that CollegeBoard plans to release several new AP classes, but seeing classes like AP Psychology and such would be awesome in the future. Allowing IDEA students to take more AP classes geared towards their majors in the future will greatly help them! Overall, I think Idea Walzem is a great, comforting, and safe environment, but having some academic variety would be amazing for the future graduating classes.
I've been here since 7th grade and now I am a senior in high school. The past years at Idea Walzem have changed me to be a young adult.
I love my school due to my teachers. The teachers at my school show they care in many ways such as making sure we all are keeping up with our grades, always on task , and also checking on us to see how we are doing all the time . Our teachers actually show they genuinely care and not just here for a check. A few things I would change is how strict they are on the seniors (me). I wish we had more freedom because we still get the same privileges as when we were in middle school and I find that unfair. Overall, I wouldn't want to spend my senior year anywhere else .
All Idea campuses have higher curriculum for the students allowing the students to take college ready classes throughout their high school years. Taking these classes, gives us students the credits for college, potentially allowing us to graduate earlier in college. I would like to see change in the way they treat the students, because of the higher standards, the teachers and counselors expect so much from us, but they have to understand we are all children still.
I like that Idea Walzem College Prep helps prepare you for college and takes you through the steps on applying for college and as well as scholarships. I also like that the teachers care about the well being of their students and always give opportunities to pick up your grades.
Idea prepares all students for success in the beginning of 6th grade. Idea sets high expectations for every student and goes the extra mile to make sure each student realizes their own potential.
Idea Walzem is an excellent academic school that keeps students focused on education and on track for college.
I like that IDEA Walzem is a very educated and strict school that get students ready for College. IDEA Walzem allows students to be viligent of their work but assist the students to work very hard.
ive been in the idea district for 8 years now and its the best thing that ever happened to me. idea had kept me up and to try my best. the teachers want to see you suceed and makes sure that this happens. they are more than teacher they become your family.
I can safely say that at Idea Walzem College Preparatory they a great at keeping families updated with upcoming events or last-minute ideas. I have a had an okay experience at Idea but it is just my 2nd year. I think it could be a little better. For instance, maybe adding more sports options, and even clubs. I have been singing since I was 8. I did choir all of my middle school and I was in glee club in the 9th grade. It wasn't everything I hoped it would be but it was the closest thing they have to choir. If I could change anything about Idea Walzem College Preparatory it would have to be more involvement of sports. I think this because sports is also another big part of my life I've been in sports since 3rd grade. All in all Idea is a pretty good school and I know attending here I am more prepared for college.
Although the academics are good, it is very STEM-based. It is not a school you'd want to send your child to if they are interested in true varsity sports or art programs such as drama or any type of visual or liberal arts. It is very small ad gives off a private school vibe although it is a public charter.
I have been going here since 6th grade. When I came here, I had just came from an elementary where I was bullied and nobody cared for me. It isn't perfect, but I found it easy to adapt to this school. I found it easy to make friends, I understood what I was learning with helpful teachers, and they push for you to have opportunities. The only things I may not like are the lack of clubs and electives, as well as the food here isn't that great.
