Idea Mays College Preparatory Reviews
Rating 3.82 out of 5 17 reviews
The best parts of my experience within Idea Mays would definitely be the community we built. My class, the class of 2024, is one of the founding classes for the school we have built traditions for younger grades to follow. We helped set up the presidency and due to the size of the classes we grew close-knit. However the worst part of my experience going to the school would have to be the stress level. Having seven AP courses last year of high school is a bit difficult but the teachers are really good at helping you. Something I would love to see change in the school is an increase in clubs and activities it would help decompress the students. Adding clubs and activities would most likely help increase productivity and bringing new people to the school.
This school is honestly...well very controlling. But the people here are what makes it worth it. When I first came here it was honestly because of my problems. This place is where I've tried to get better and have met others with similar issues. This school works hard to build a sense of community and unity among its staff, students, and including the substitute teachers. Most of us kids here are hard workers and all of the classes offered are very challenging...In other words, I'm not as bored as I used to be in school. The only issue for the future with this establishment is that people here are very sheltered, and possibly not ready for the real world where no one will hold your hand through it all.
When I entered this school in 6th grade, it was a complete culture shock. There were so many rules and high expectations we were expected to follow. Now that look back on it and see how the culture has shifted so much, my grade level deeply benefited from these high expectations. I wish they would have kept the culture the same for middle school, because the mannerism deeply decreases as the grade levels do.
