My experience at Idaho Virtual Academy (IDVA) has been very positive. I've been able to continue to thrive as a student and have been able to challenge myself. The school offers dual credit for a large variety of classes and if there is a class (that you want to take) that is not on the course list, the counselors are quick to come up with a solution. I'm currently taking two dual credit classes that IDVA does not offer, however, they enrolled me in the Idaho Digital Learning Alliance. The teachers are amazing and put forth effort to know their students. The school also has catch-up days which allows you to work on any missing work. As you can imagine, this is very helpful especially if you're taking harder/time-consuming classes. Another thing that the school does is give students a grace week. This gives students a whole week to turn an assignment in for full credit after it is due. Although I have only been an IDVA student for 2 years, my experience has been amazing thus far.
Idaho Virtual Academy allowed me to genuinely focus more on school subjects. I found myself diving into more into topics presented by the teachers because they were able to include all classmates on the online meetings. I felt like I took more away from school by learning everything online, and especially with the help of the teachers that were only a phone call away. Every teacher there is so helpful and so nice. I’m very glad to have said that I graduated from such an amazing school!
The curriculum is challenging and some of the classes are highly engaging. IDVA struggles with overworking their high school students to the point of burnout, mostly because their lessons lack detail and not all teachers are trained in the classes they teach. Expect to work long hours on school and you must be HIGHLY motivated.
I loved being part of the Idaho Virtual Academy family. At first, I wasn't so sure about doing online school but my parents wanted me to because of COVID. After doing online school, especially with IDVA, I never wanted to go back to brick and mortar. I got the education I needed at the pace I wanted and even graduated early.
Recently switched from a traditional in-person school to this online school, I was very impressed on how easy the transition was, the documents for applying are looked over quickly, while still catching anything missing. The course variety at this school is large, your child can do anything.
IDVA is a unique school given the engaging staff and enthusiastic counselors. Students as individuals is a priority, as seen through the number of students that graduate with college credits to multiple certificates to an entire college degree. That's me - I'm going to be graduating with an associates degree, going to a dream school to finish off my bachelor's with scholarships in hand, and I was only able to do so because of the great staff and counselors that encouraged me and helped me capitalize on all of the great opportunities that came my way. With this said, I'd say that IDVA puts a lot of importance in future readiness which may not be what students that want to live up their high school years are looking for. Because of the online nature, it can also feel isolating if you don't reach out through the in-person events or virtual sessions meant for socialization. Overall, though, I am so happy I attended IDVA and am grateful for all that it did for my future.
The teachers and counselors are always ready to help you and give encouragement. They create a positive learning environment. The curriculum challenges me to improve my study habits. All in all, a great school and I'm so happy I choose to enroll with them.
I like the flexibility that this school offers. I am able to do sports through dual enrollment as well as work and get a good education. I love that the counselors are very helpful. The teachers try their best and their are event days for socializing.
I loved attending Idaho Virtual Acedmey! It taught me how to manage myself better and take responsibility for my learning. There teachers are all wonderful and the curriculum, although challenging at times, is engaging and relevant. Very proud to have graduated from there!
Loved this school! I learned more in a day then a week in public school. The teachers were also really helpful and always involved with parents.
My experience at Idaho Virtual Academy is awesome. I love how I get to learn at my own pace and have teacher always willing to help me. IDVA has get course selections too!
Better than a passing grade, they were here for us too!
Due to pandemic concerns we enrolled our second grader in K12 for the 2020 school year. Overall I think they did a pretty good job. What a crappy year that was. We were relieved to have this option when our local elementary school dropped the ball big time. There were some tech issues and other random things but all in all it was a positive experience. Stay on top of it, keep it light and it can be fun. It's definitely a get out of it what you put into it kind of program. Which we like because it allows us to choose our level of participation. And to that, they have plenty of stuff going on. Kids who can work independently will do well.

Amazing online school. Incredible teachers and support staff. Our 6th grader had a wonderful school year. Thank you to all at IDVA for making that possible.
Online school is nice, because I can sleep in. However, it is tough because there is a ton of work to do, and sometimes it just seems pointless. Plus, I have to send a formally-worded email every time I want to ask my teacher a question, which is kinda weird.
Good experience! Most of the teachers are good at their jobs, and there is a wide variety of course options and plans. Being able to work ahead and have a flexible schedule for work and social interaction is a huge plus. The counselors are great at helping high school students in preparing for college and/or life after high school. Despite being an onlie school, I have actually made quite a few friends!
My experience with the Idaho Virtual Academy has been pretty good. It was different and a good refreshing change after being in a public school all my life. I am an ADD student who struggles to keep a routine. Changing my learning setting often is something that is very important to me, for it allows me to continue on the right track and not get to comfortable with one thing. IDVA gave me that change that I needed to be successful and I am very grateful for my decision to join.
It was really nice how much the school helped me out. I wasn't supposed to graduate on time but Crystal made sure it happened.
