The school and teachers have a community and they help the students in anything that they need help with. The school also offers a program that sends the girls to work for a day with sponsors that help pay off the tuition. ICA Cristo Rey Academy is a beautiful school, it supported me a lot.
ICA will definitely get you ready for college, however, be prepared for a stressful challenge. ICA offers various mental health and academic help to help you through your journey, but its still difficult to manage mental health and the workload.
it’s really good! teachers are great and good work study program! I felt like I have really grown a lot being at ica and i know other girls will too!
An amazingly vibrant community that is welcoming from the moment you enter the door. Our students have an amazing opportunity to work one day a week and our teachers prepare our students for excellence. 98% of our most recent graduates were accepted to 4 year institutions.
I love that we had a corporate work study program because it made me so confident in my abilities when I went to college. I had a really hard time in high school but the teachers were all supportive and clearly wanted their students to do well. This school also had great academics and challenged me in the right ways.
In the first two year it takes some getting use like it usually but by the time that your in you junior and senior year you tend to get use to the schedule that goes on especially, since we are have a corporate work study program in such take out one day of school. I feel it’s a good experience since you get to see how to juggle with both work and school which will be great for later on in college. It also gives us the experience in being a office place and overall work environment.
I have enjoyed my experience at ICA Cristo Rey Academy so far. Teachers and staff are always welcoming to suggestions. For example, students have felt that silent lunch due to tardiness was not an adequate punishment, because tardiness is not always due to the students lack of being prepared for class. To accommodate this concern they suggested that students parents who drop them off late or have a note due to non-accessible will be dismissed from silent lunch. I have always felt safe on campus and that my safety was a priority. All my teachers have been very kind and easy to contact for any questions or concerns throughout their courses.
ICA is a great school that prepares its students for college the minute they enter as a freshman, which is amazing. The college counselors really help you every step, especially during your junior and senior years. The teachers are friendly and willing to stay after school hours to help you. ICA has also done an amazing job with online remote learning and kept a steady schedule for the students to follow. One thing ICA can change is the way they go about the Corporate Works Study Program. Even though it's a good working experience, some of the students have come forward saying they were mistreated at their job and ICA has done little to nothing about it. Overall, it's a great school with a couple of flaws.
ICA does a wonderful job of getting students ready for college and provides many resources for the students preparing to graduate. They are very diverse, and they provide many options for AP/honor courses.
Immaculate Conception Academy: a unique school. With our CWSP program, Catholic background, and being all girls, you won't be able to relate to that "typical high school experience." Whether this is good or bad is up to you, though it can be isolating at times. My teachers have always genuinely wanted to see me succeed, but I know that others aren't so lucky; the non teacher faculty can be difficult to deal with during our CWSP crisis. Sports are not competitive. The campus isn't terrific or terrible, but crowded. A lot of students complain about school spirit but if you really apply yourself you can get involved in a lot of different ways. If you want to have fun, ICA may not be the place for you. We do enjoy spirit events but we're a semi-spirited campus. Things are starting to look up in this regard, though. My biggest complaint is feeling like ICA only cares about CWSP money, not the students, and definitely not creativity. Great college prep.
I've enjoyed my time at ICA. Throughout these years, I have been able to build strong relationships with students and teachers. I have been a part of many clubs and activities in the school. Everyone is always willing to help and express their ideas.
I loved the diverse atmosphere, ICA Cristo Rey is in the center of Mission which is booming with lots of culture. Everywhere you turn the streets are filled with so much culture and diversity which plays a huge role in ICA. The education a student receives is rigorous, however, it prepares many students for the future both in college and the workforce. Not only does ICA give young women the opportunity to work in businesses, it also gives them a unique background that many other high schoolers don't have. One change I would love to see however is more hands on activities from both the teachers and faculty, also I would like to see teachers apply themselves in their teaching. I want to see all kids participating in the classroom and feel like they are in a safe environment.
I have been attending ICA Cristo Rey all throughout high school. I enjoyed my time there and it's everything that I imagined. All the teachers and faculty members care for their students well-beings and education.
ICA Cristo Rey is an amazing school because it helped me build an amazing network of mentors and allies. I was given amazing opportunities through the Corporate Work Study Program and I took advantage of many on-campus organizations such as Latinas Unidas and Code Nation.
ICA Cristo Rey Academy was a great place to learn and be prepared for college. Unfortunately, the school did not make the "high school experience" any priority. There were very little clubs and organizations that interested the students. Very strict rules on students as well. As a student I witnessed how hard many students worked but yet never got to have any fun during high school.
Great high school if you want to feel involved at all times! Teachers are great and will make time to help you any time. It would be good to see more language classes instead of just Spanish for three years. The Work Study Program will help students prepare for the future by learning new skills but do not expect to be placed somewhere you want all the time, however it is possible to be placed in a industry you may be thinking about working at in the future.
What I enjoyed and appreciated about Immaculate Conception Academy is that they strive for all their students to find their full potential. Whether that be through the Corporate World Study Program or through the various leadership opportunities/roles.
