Hutchinson Senior High School Reviews
Rating 3.47 out of 5 116 reviews
Hutchinson High School is a very outstanding school with a great environment for learning. All of the teachers and staff go above and beyond when it comes to getting help. The teachers do more than just help you with schoolwork. I had and still have great relationships with staff from Hutchinson Senior High School as they mentored me through picking a college along with everyday life events. There are also very strong athletic programs within the school and a lot of school spirit goes along with that. I loved my time at Hutchinson Senior High School. I was a part of the very successful Girls Swim and Dive team along with the key club, National Honor Society, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The school offered many clubs and sports to help students get involved and make them all-around candidates for post-high school pathways. I am so grateful to have gone to Hutchinson Senior High School. That school prepared me better than any school could!
It's a decently sized school for the small population of Hutchinson, but they can't afford to pay for good teachers. The courses are either very easy or impossibly hard depending on the teacher. They don't teach you the different standards for writing in college, or how things will actually be graded. We don't have much diversity amongst the students, and everyone sticks with their own race groups and doesn't get out to meet someone different. Another negative thing is that the non white kids get followed around constantly being scolded by teachers and the police men. There is a wide variety of after school activities, and music/drama activities, but if you are an inspiring female athlete, there isn't much. We are pretty safe, we don't get many shooter threats, and we have a police on campus at all times. I can't say much about the food, because I always pack a lunch, but I know it's bad enough my friends rather starve. It's a very mediocre school.
Hutchinson Senior High School has done more then prepare me for college and life. Teachers truly care about there students and there’s success, taking any opportunity to help students when needed. For instance the math department is very organized with each other. They have a “math lab” twice a week after school where students can get tutored no matter the teacher. Also the school is constantly finding internship and job opportunities for students that are easily and readily available. Now for a student like me who’s interest are focused in on social sciences every teacher I’ve had in a course has done a great job offering facts and perspective to students in a rural region with little diversity. They also give thoughtful, introspective assignments that truly make a student realize there impact and the impact on history. Not to mention the school consolers exceed expectations for students constantly with being very flexible.
