Blue Ribbon School - teachers are caring, understanding and make learning fun! My son recently transferred from Clifton School district and I was very concerned his grades would drop being transferred and having to make new friends and learn his way around a new school, environment and culture. With that said my son has soared since he started September 2018 and he was in several honor classes. His GPA currently for 2018 -2019 is 3.5

Hunterdon Central has the best college readiness among students than most friends from other schools. They have a special counselor specifically for meeting about college, and they walk you through the application process step by step. The academics are great, as they provide a plethora of classes in many individual subjects and interests. Students also have the opportunity to go to the nearby polytechnic institute to pursue focused careers in cosmetology, engineering, cooking, and more. However, based on the demographics of the surrounding four townships, the diversity is very poor, as most of the students are white. And since there are over 3000 students currently attending HCRHS, the community and culture is very weak. There tends to be a lot of talented students, but not much support between many activity groups and sports. Other than that, Hunterdon Central truly prepares teens for adulthood.
Central is so bad! There is way too much bullying, drug taking and vaping that none of the staff are aware about. If you miss one day of class you're expected to check back in google classroom or with the teacher to see what work you've missed because "i was absent" is not an excuse. The hallways are just so dirty but then hanging up in the IMC says a banner that this is NJ's 1st Star High School. Nobody sticks up for anyone they just gather around and witness this happen. The classes are like an hour and a half long and you only get 40 minute lunches which feel like 10 minutes. Then if you come class a second after the bell rings they make you go to the house office and get a late pass which adds up and eventually you'll get a detention which really isn't fair.
