The atmosphere of Hunter-Tannersville was nice...as long as your parents and grandparents went to school there and your last name has a "legacy" behind it. I would not recommend this school to anyone looking to move in to the area. Considering how small the school is, the students leave thinking they're smart because they're top of the class or they're the best at sports, when in reality the academics/sports are not that great, and after you leave you realize how little the administration actually does for you. They don't exactly prepare students enough for what comes after high school, other than constantly talking down to students and telling them that their life means nothing in the "real world" (true experience). Additionally, their bus schedule isn't the best, and your student could very well get home at 5 o'clock everyday without even joining a club or sport. I only went to this school for a year and a half before continuing my junior/senior year elsewhere.
Hunter-Tannersville Middle/High School is a great school. The small community allows for better connections between students and teachers. I found my years as a student at this school were amazing while I still got a good education. There is a lot of pride that unites even the whole town in this one school. This is the type of school that I would want my future children to attend.
My time at HTC was very enjoyable, and I am grateful to have attended a school as calm and friendly one. The highlight of this school is the incredibly small size. Because of the low student count, it is very easy for every kid to get the help they need. The teachers are great, and I will never forget them.
