My experience at Cummings High School has been enriching. Being apart of the school's marching band has allowed me to go places such as the 2022 Allstate Sugarbowl in New Orleans, Louisiana. It has also allowed to attend a band camp at Florida A&M University, the home of The Marching 100. Under the leadership of Band Director Gregory Milton, I learned about discipline, hard work and that it's how you begin, it's how you finish. My teachers at the school constantly encourage my peers and I, that no goal is attainable, if you give up. But that all goals, are achievable if you never give up.
My experience with Cummings wasn't a bad one but definitely wasn't a good one. Our school physically is pretty run down with ceiling tiles missing, cracks on walls, and leaky ceilings. That really affects your mood walking and kind of loses your interest in learning. Other than freshman year, my teachers were amazing and I really have no problems with any of them. However, I know some teachers who also lost their passion for teaching and the classroom reflects it. They would just give out handouts or assign notes and that's it. I felt as if I wasn't very prepared for college either. No teachers or counselors told us how to complete our financial aid and also didn't really make us aware of programs we could enter that could help us get into colleges we wanted. Overall, it was a nice experience but I felt like I didn't learn much of what I truly needed to know.
I had a pretty good experience there. I made lots of friends when I attended, and I also networked with a lot of teachers. The faculty cares about the students tremendously.
