I really enjoy going to HSLJ! I specifically enjoy the law classes and the criminal Justice classes that help us get an insight in the criminal Justice field. I also love that we have lots of extracurricular activities!
Great experience. Best part of my experience was having a small tight-knit class that I was able to create a bond with everyone. I would like to see more involvement with sports in the school whether that be in district or intramural. I believe high schoolers should get the chance to engage in other after school extra activities rather than having to support their zoned schools. The worst part of my experience was having to deal with COVID-19 my sophomore year and coming to a halt mid high school. I had to make adjustments to my way of learning and adapt to the idea of staying home all day and not seeing my friends. Once junior year approached and things settled, I was able to go back to school and go back to seeing people face to face, along with getting a better understanding of the curriculum because I was in a classroom setting. However, my experience at HSLJ was definitely one for the books and i'm so grateful for my time there. I made life-long friends and met great teachers.
My experience has been a great one, the school sets out to improve students on their communication, social, and leadership skills. For example, I'm in the 311 program which allows me to work at the Houston Emergency Center and take non-emergency calls. This has improved my vocal skills and has led me to work closely with Law Enforcement and 911 personnel. Other clubs that focus on improving students’ characteristics include Police explorers, BPA, and NHS. The student population is always below 500 which is fairly small compared to other high schools. It's perfect for people who prefer small classes that range from 20-30 students as it makes it easier to conversate freely with students and teachers alike. However, the school lacks participation in sports and implements school dress code strictly which brings down school spirit and creativity. Overall, the staff and principal send out a new list of scholarship opportunities every month and communicate well with their students kindly.
The high school is a charter school so they don’t give you the actual high school experience. They don’t have homecoming games, dances, and sports that normal high schools would have. But the academic course they provide are very helpful with students pursuing the criminal Justice/law field.
This was a fun time and a really get choose for anyone who wants to take a pond a career in Law enforcement.
Coming from a completely online freshman year due to Covid-19, High School for Law and Justice provided me with an amazing understanding of what an incoming student regularly manages and deals with. Sophomore year was honestly one of my best years yet. I was able to fully grasp the meaning of time management and dedication. I learned that it only gets harder in life as you’re progressing, however your academic work ethic totally makes up for it in the end. I liked that High School for Law and Justice pushes and encourages every student to excel in their classes, try one’s hardest, and show up every day regardless of any circumstance. Having nearly two more years left of high school, High School for Law and Justice has made this a truly welcoming, wonderful, and honoring experience and I believe I speak for everyone when I say this.
HSLJ is a cool school it allowed me to learn and grow as a person and with its diversity it made me feel welcomed. There’s also the fact that the school also offers programs that’ll help you if you plan on doing anything las related so that’s cool. The teachers were also very helpful and they won’t make you feel bad for asking questions and in fact encourage for you to ask questions when you need help.
My experience in HSLJ was incredible. I didn’t get to fully have the four-year high school experience at school due to COVID but my high school experience at HSLJ was an experience that got me to grow as a person and the school helped me a lot by providing me with information and connections. I really liked that HSLJ is a small campus school with few students which gets you to know your teachers and your classmates of your class. HSLJ offers plenty of help for the students such as career paths, counseling, job opportunities, and tutoring. Something that I would like for HSLJ to change is for the teachers to interact more with the students. To not only teach the students but to connect with the students.
Honestly your experience in this school is determined by the people you're surrounded with, attitude and clubs you join. A lot of people complain that this school doesn't have any real sports teams or fall short of the high school experience which is fair but it won't stop you from having a good experience. Beginning HSLJ may be a bit overwhelming with coursework but I think that's how all freshman feel jumping from middle school to high school. There are some programs worth staying for like the Practicum program where students study to be calltakers their junior year then get a job at the Houston emergency their senior year, which pays really good for a teenager, and the FBI program where members would work with the big Brothers Big sisters program to mentor students(but has stopped briefly due to COVID).
As a senior in my school, I've loved almost everything about or school. The school is quite small in terms of population, so I have a good amount of acquaintances. Most teachers put their best efforts into the lessons they teach, which made learning extremely fun and engaging. Finally, you get to know what social group you belong to, as there are many types of students here that can match your interests.
However, there are a few things that I did not like about this school. Firstly, there is not much to do in this school. It is not like the other schools where they have numerous sports, clubs, and events occuring weekly or monthly. We lack sports and other extracurricular activities, especially since COVID-19 hit. Secondly, there is a lot more emphasis on academic excellence than having fun. I do enjoy learning a lot, but it would be nice to have a change of pace once in a while instead of being overwhelmed by assignments every week.

My experience of HSLECJ has been a good one. The teachers are competent and effectively teach their subjects. The other staff, like the janitors, lunch workers, groundskeepers, and school administration, are equally as excellent in their work. Various clubs and other activities are also available at the school that offer fun engagement with fellow students. Now that HSLECJ has had to focus on remote learning, they have risen to the occasion and are successfully teaching us, despite the present difficulties.
My experience in HSLECJ has been good. The teachers are very active in the students learning. They try to understand what we are going through and help us get through the issue.
I am a current senior and although there might be some flaws here a HSLJ, they have a program here that helped me get a a job at the Houston Emergency center .
I am a Junior about to be a Senior at HSLJ. Something that I really like about it is the Law Enforcement 1 & 2 class you learn a lot of things that is related to law. Also, Dr.Holmes Program thats helps a lot of us to get an opportunity to work at the Houston Emergency Center as a non-emergency 10-digit call taker during Senior year.
I love the atmosphere that HSLJ creates between students and administration. The administration creates a safe and welcoming environment for students to be able to ask questions or to come to if they are having any difficulties. I love the programs they implement in school. I am in the school's JROTC and I learn skills necessary for life such as leadership skills and communication skills. HSLJ also has programs that focus solely on the career you envision yourself in.
I love the diversity that is within the school and the availability of the teachers when needed. There are various organizations available for us as students to join. I really enjoyed being a part of the BPA club as well as being offered and accepting a place within the National Honor Society.
My experience in the High School For law And Justice is One of The coolest and best experience i have gone threw so far. For Example, I am a Current Student and at this school i experience a lot of things for examples i Do teen court and to me that's such a great experience for me because am in court being part of an real case and standing in front of a judge being able to find justice defend the procedure or represent the state of Texas is an honor but i'm also Part of the FBI program which is also a amazing program i go to the FBI Building and i have a mentor that talks to me and helps me out with certain things also they introduces us to things we have never seen or do for example how to do finger prints and also how they do car searches ect... there is so many hands on things in this school its amazing our school also offers Law Day . the teachers love and care about there students future and how they can help us to be someone in the future .
