My experience at Howland High School has been full of wonderful moments that have impacted my education. I am surrounded by great staff and students who have encouraged me to keep pursing my academic dreams. However, in High School it is inevitable to experience the lows. One experience that hasn't been fond, is not being able to see my twin sister during classes. My twin sister and I share an indescribable bond, which impacts me socially. Though, with the support of both teachers and students, I have been able to conquer my fears and embrace new challenges with beaming confidence. I would absolutely love to see the involvement of spirit and tiger pride within our school, making it more enjoyable and alive!
My time at Howland High School has been indescribable. On a daily basis, I am surrounded by the most helpful teachers and peers. Even though high school can be psychically and mentally challenging, I have had decent experiences thus far. Personally, the worst experience I have had is the amount of school work required by teachers. However, this all equals out because I am learning to become more organized with my school work. The best experience at school is when I am able to see and interact with my friends at lunch time. Lastly, I would love to see more student involvement when it comes to spirit events.
Howland High School was a major part of my life. When I was young, I didn’t have any parents due to the heroin epidemic and lived at my grandparents house with my siblings and uncle.
During my time there I almost failed kindergarten; However, my teacher and the program at Howland saw that I was not able to keep up and was not receiving the help I needed at home. Once they stepped in and provided me with extra help, I was able to make it through and proceed with my peers to 1st grade.
A few years later I had moved on to a new chapter of my life. My aunt and uncle had invited me to live with them. By the time I was 12 years old, they had adopted me. This was a huge step in my journey and during the process I had my last name changed.
Howland played a huge part in the changes and helped with the adjustments to make sure I stayed on track, got the things I needed done, and kept me going even when I had struggles.
Howland Schools made sure that I could succeed even with adversity.
