Howe High School isn't the worst school out there, but it definitely isn't the best. It has limited academic opportunities, especially for students planning on going overseas. Its extracurricular activities are well funded and offer countless scholarship opportunities for every student.
Howe's population generally opposes progressive ideas. The community can be a threatening environment for minorities, especially members of the LGBT community. The administration doesn't do well in keeping the peace between their students, especially not in preventing them from using racist or homophobic slurs.
The main issue with the school's quality is its administration's reluctance to change any of their policies and their firm policies revolving around traditional values. The policies tend to get out of hand and make education that much more stressful for students.
However, the teachers are dedicated and help improve the experience for individual students as well as the student body as a whole.

Hey I'm a senior at howe highschool and I am so thankful for this school I've been there since freshman year a played football, track crosscountry, tennis, baseball and basketball, and in every single sport I played we all played like a family we had each others back, If someone is having a bad day or messed up in something we always treat them as family and try to cheer them up. We also act like family out of sports we are a pretty small school and everyone basically knows each other, even the teachers and we are all a great big family sometimes we have a little problems but we always end up fixing them. Also the community is great we have a lot of parents helping out with the school.I love going to Howe highschool and being a part of their family.
Many students that go to my school always say they can’t wait to get out of Howe, that they hate our school. However, they do not see how great our school is compared to others. We have wonderful and mindful teachers, we have many activities for all kinds of personalities, the community/school acts as a whole, and so much more that we are all taking advantage of. We may be an extremely small town, and maybe that’s why the other kids don’t like it because they feel trapped, but we have been granted with so many opportunities others do not provide. There may be people that make my experience miserable at times, but that is the students, not the school and it’s factors.
