Coming up in Howard high school I played football, and participated and wrestling off and on. The brotherhood and family I established with my teammates on the football team is incredibly strong and supportive. I have created life long friendships with people that have supported me and pushed me to be better and strive for more success and to reach my goals. Every year our school encourages us to be the best that we can be and to tackle challenges to achieve our goals. Howard has an incredibly extensive selection of groups, clubs, sports, organizations, and extracurricular activities. Some of which being the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), Yearbook course, Weight training, Baking Club, Hockey Club, and FCA. In my opinion, Howard is one of the most extensively diverse schools with a wide selection of activities to make everyone feel included. Howard High School is a jarring environment at first, with the amount of overcrowding being a bit overwhelming. It's a good.

From rats infesting the classes, to racist classmates who blatantly express their bigotry and homophobic views, Howard High School is not the gem the faculty and staff make it out to be. Teachers are average at best and the Administrative staff rarely does anything to help their students or to better the school. Now I might sound extremely harsh, however, I have been a student at Howard going on four years and have seen firsthand the amount of disregard to improve on the school's weaknesses. Take the issue with the rats for example: I have seen rats running around my classrooms since 9th grade. By 10th grade the situation got worse and by 11th, the situation got so bad that the school bought a rat suit that one very unlucky student would walk around the building in reminding students to throw any their trash. However, there are positives to Howard, the top one being its athletic department. Howard is big on sports and their coaches do an amazing job of training student athletes.
