HAIS is a good school for the students that it’s good for. If you’re not interested in traveling or obtaining your associates degree then I don’t recommend going to this school. But if you do want to travel, get your associates degree or both then I definitely recommend this school.

What disappointed me the most about HAIS is the fact that we don’t have homecoming, or pep rallies. I understand that we don’t have a football team but throughout my 4 years of going to this school there isn’t really any moment where I really felt school spirit exhibited by this school, and a pep rally/homecoming just because would’ve definitely helped bring some spirit into our school.

I like that Houston Academy for International Studies is an early college school. It allows high school students to take dual credit classes at Houston Community College-Central. This opportunity can have you graduating high school with a high school diploma and even an Associate's degree from HCC. This school prepares you for the real world and you have a strong support system. Every that attends HAIS is a family, we all help one another be successful. This school has about 450 students throughout the entire school, so everyone knows everyone. The teachers here want you to succeed and they will do whatever to help you succeed. I personally believe that HAIS is a very good school to go to because there are many opportunities they offer that other high schools don't offer.
I really like the environment on my campus, and the staff is nice and approachable. There are great opportunities there such as receiving your associates degree as a dual credit student and programs such as study abroad allowing students cheap international travel. However the school is really small for a high school. This school was an elementary school that became a high school. Our campus is actually the only campus in HISD that does not have a new building. Overall our school has a close community and I enjoyed all four years so far.
