I have lived here all of my life. Houghton Lake is a part of me, and I’ll treasure my experience here for a lifetime. Our small environment is comfortable and allows us to grow closer together as a family and community. We have a variety of clubs and sports available and supportive teachers. Some of the things our school lacks are updated and clean bathrooms,
advanced classes, and diversity. These are elements that I would like to see change or improve for the generations and future Houghton Lake students to come.
advanced classes, and diversity. These are elements that I would like to see change or improve for the generations and future Houghton Lake students to come.
I like most of the teachers at Houghton Lake High School, most of them truly care about the students and try to make school a more positive experience. What I'd like to see change is the fact there are a lot of underlying problems in the school such as bullying, assault, etc. that the school ignores and choses not to take action on. They chose to prioritize other less important matters such as dress codes, when their efforts could be used in more important matters.
What I like about Houghton Lake High School are their classes that are given. Personally, I am a science and math type of person. In Houghton Lake High School, the majority of their classes are science and math. Although there are many other things that I like about this school, there are some things that I do not enjoy. One of which, clubs. At Houghton Lake High School, there are some clubs that students can join. Although most of them you need a high grade point average to qualify. Therefore, I would like to see more different types of clubs that don't have to judge by you academics.
