I think the mental health support is the worst thing about this school. There is no support. The SRO takes a liking to few students and treats the other students like criminals. The principal and vice principal are new and very understanding in some cases. Most of the teachers are kind and try to help in whatever way they can. I would love to see some genuine help for the students struggling. I have gone to Hot Springs School my entire life and the last year (2022-2023) is one of the best years i’ve experienced. I am personally not a fan of nurse Greg because he assumes everyone is trying to skip class. I have been very sick physically and mentally this year and most of the staff made me feel like a straight failure. The teachers that i would trust no matter what to tell anything is Mrs. Rohlf, Ms. Harms, Mr. Karas, Mrs. Thompson, and Mrs. Wynia . All of these teachers have been extremely helpful, supportive, and respectful. They are genuinely there for the students and love their job.
I enjoyed Cross Country and participation in both jazz choir and jazz band. I also feel as though we have a very strong track team, and many dedicated teachers. I enjoyed the time spent in the Chemistry Lab and the laid back environment
My overall experience of Hot Springs High School was very up and down. The teachers here are very caring and supportive, and clearly want to see each individual student succeed. Extra-curricular activities are stressed here, not only for more student involvement but because of the important life lessons the coaches give every day. However, the administration within the school is very poor. The administration puts many limitations on the teachers, making their job harder and student life poorer.
This school is the worst I have ever attended. I highly don't recommend this school if you want even the most basic education. Most teachers play favorites and fail students if they dislike them or they don't attend in their sport they coach. There is a few really good teachers, most of them were lost with this joke of an "admin" (he now gives himself the title of CEO because he refuses to renew his license) they hired who put the school in major debt. The education is bad, half the time the school doesn't even have enough teachers for their classes. Some of the teachers even have went to the extents of throwing stuff at students and having fits in front on them, this is absolutely unacceptable behavior in my eyes. All they care about is their sports so education is thrown out for this. they never clean so the school is appalling, the last time they somewhat cleaned was after a student came down with a fatal contagious disease.
at the moment im a freshman in hot springs high school. i have learned nothing this year and i feel like im not getting challenged enough. half of the teachers are only here for the job. the school is very poor and very unsanitary.
i feel like a good portion of the staff have there favorites, if its the kids in sports or the kids that have mental issues. as a person who is more into the arts. the band is very sucky. and at the moment the only class i enjoy is math (i have had a bad history with math but the teacher gives me hope) and art.
i do think this school is not a safe place...

I really make personal and great connections with alot of the teachers. However, that does not help when all of the teachers are resigning due to their lack of funding and when many different programs are suffering from the budget cuts. The school is in desperate need of fixing up, and that's not just the physical building that needs fixing. The school uses an ICU program which teaches students that they can take as many opportunities as they would like after failing to succeed. They become so dependent on this system that if they were forced into the real world or higher education, I'm not sure if some of them would be able to make it. Despite the teachers being quality people, the school around them is suffering greatly.
It's a good school i have had some fantastic teachers and some poor ones. I've had teachers help me with subjects I struggle with. Classroom sizes are nice and I've made good friends throughout highschool. The lunch hour is a short thirty minutes and the food isn't the best so i pack a lunch. I know everybody in my grade because it's a small school. The buildings are nice and they have a library.
I grew up in this town, my sister graduated from here as well, and neither of s have had a great experience with students, teachers, or academics. most of the teachers employed here are really good people, but are horrible educators, some are great people as well as great educators, and of course only a few are terrible at both. its mostly the terrible educators and great people though that make up the staff here at HSHS. the student body has never been extremely supportive of each other and there is a lot of hatred between everyone. its overall just not a great environment and i'm truthfully ready to leave and move on to new adventures.
Usually, students have a social group, and don't get out of it. A group of people hangs out with that group specifically, and not usually anyone else. There are some bullying.
Its okay. There is a check in at the door for visitors, and the doors are locked except for passing period. I am not sure, but I think there are some security cameras, at least in the hall way. Its not that much...
I wanted to take a year off before I started college. I was extremely nervous and scared. But, after the first day at Red Rock s Community I was so excited. Everyone was so nice and helpful. As soon as my last class got out I called my mom and told how excited I was and she started to cry. I also posted it on face book saying how glad I was that I started college.
My teachers are always available if there is something that I don't understand. Whether it's during class and or if they set up a time outside of class. My teachers take time to get to know their students. They ask questions as how or what we did on the weekends or what are our hobbies etc. Their communication skills are top notch. E-mails are a constant. Their grading is consistent.
There needs to be more clubs and more students involved. Also, sports should NOT be the first priority of the school. I feel as if sports are the first priority. There needs to be more after-school activities as well.
It is okay. Some teachers are better than others. The ones that do an amazing job make sure to include students, are very knowledgeable, involve the students, communicate and are very consistent. However, there are a few teachers that are not as responsible, and it isn't as easy to learn things in those classes. They lower the overall rank by their teaching skills.
Parents try, but there is only so much a booster club can do.
Some of the teachers treat you like a understanding human, others treat you like a baby.
Would not recommend, its horrible.
