I would like to see Horseshoe Bend High School prepare their students for college by offering ACT/SAT prep courses. Other schools in the State of Alabama prepare their students for success with these prep courses. Other than that, Horseshoe Bend is a great school. We have teacher and parent support above all others. Our small community is able to accomplish great things with their support. I have opportunities larger schools can't offer by having one on one interaction with my teachers, an abundance of after school activities, and community service involvement. I love my school and I'm eager to see how my school will continue to grow and provide even more service to my community.
Horseshoe Bend is a small K-12 school in the rural town of Newsite, Al. The faculty is great with having 101 time with the students and provide a great learning experience. My connection with the teachers and students felt more like family than just being in a regular school system. Because Horseshoe Bend is in a smaller location, everyone knows each other and will support each other whenever there is trouble. However, there are some minor errors in communication and acknowledgement of upcoming events. Scheduling and planning for school events can be complicated due to busy schedules for the teachers and club organizations. Students fall behind in class and risk in having lower grades.
My experience at Horseshoe Bend was a positive one and one of growth, to say the least. I learned lots of things there and made friends and connections with people that will stick with me throughout life.
What I would change about the school is, the system itself. The dress code, the student interaction, the staff's interaction with each other, and reorganize the students' curriculum (especially elementary).
