Horizon High School Reviews

The classes within the school are fun they can be challenging and they keep students engaged. Showing topics that we have not learned about before. AP and advanced students are able to get resources and find them easily, along with a few other populations. It is harder for students who are not as advanced or who do not fall into specific populations to get resources, especially help when it comes to college and scholarships. For most of the information surrounding these things, you have to schedule a meeting with a counselor and have to specifically ask about specific resources. Even after that, they will give you non-specific answers that don't always help. Accessibility and food options are also an issue. The building is not up to date with accessibility for disabled students. This applies to how students can get around, food, and resources given to students taking tests. I love my school and I appreciate the community within it, but there is still room for improvement.
The community at Horizon is fantastic! I am so blessed to be able to be involved in multiple activities and a variety of events at Horizon. Some of the more logistical things with classes I did not enjoy as much however. For example, there are limited class options and options for your schedule which is odd as Horizon is a very large school with lots of resources. Despite this, I really enjoy attending Horizon and feel it has been a great fit for me.
Horizon has been a very welcoming school for me. I really found a home on the sports teams at Horizon. This carried on into the classroom, where my teammates and I have been able to work on projects together. One thing that I value a lot is that Horizon has offered me the chance to take advanced classes. I've been able to earn college credits through these classes, which I know will be a great help in the future. One thing that I wish was different was the crowded atmosphere of the school. There are so many kids that it often takes thirty to forty minutes to leave the parking lot after school has been let out. Many classes, especially mandatory classes, have as many as 30 kids per classroom. I prefer to learn in smaller classes, so this aspect of Horizon is something I see as a downside.
