This school is like sending your child to Military school. No laughing children, no fun, no talking, it literally breaks their spirit. I have watched the abuse first hand and the staff put on a great show but behind the scenes is heartbreaking!
I had a child attend there for two years of high school. The education received left little prep for what would be found in college. Leadership has favorite $$ supporting families that lead to favoritism and rule breaking allowed. The international students recreate a school within a school culture. fighting and bullying allowed and parents not consulted.
I have been at HCA starting my twelfth year. I have grown academically, spiritually, socially, and professionally. It is a great school and I highly recommend it.
Family feel environment. Teachers and administrators treat you with respect and expect respect. High caliber academics and Christian worldview taught.
Our elementary and middle school years were good for the most part minus the bullying, which was allowed to continue in spite of complaints. Resources and policies of the Administration were lacking and downright unethical at times. Students who blatantly broke policies and rules were given honors and awards due to parent involvement in after school activities. They also encouraged middle school students to take high school courses for which they didn't receive credit, knowing they were required by the state of GA to have them for graduation. They behavior was unethical and fraudulent to say the least.
Look at what I wrote on the Google review About the school, It starts with "PLEASE TAKE TIME To READ THIS"
This school underwent some serious administration changes about 2 years ago, so keep in mind any review before that should be disregarded. If you want your child to have psychological issues, this is the school for you!
The administration here is horrible, they treat their students with disrespect and have no concern for their well-being or safety. Please safe your child from harassment and choose another school. They only pose as Christians yet have no Christian values or morals. It's very disturbing that they are even still open.
This school claims they have Christian values, yet it is a very hostile environment for students. The curriculum is poor and doesn’t prepare students for college in the slightest. If you want your child to be verbally abused by staff, have an easy time in classes due to the material being biased and unreliable, and feel like they are in a dictatorial environment, this is the school for you. However if you want your child in a safe, positive learning environment, look elsewhere.
This school is an embarrassment to the community. The administration is rude and not helpful at all. Most of the students do not get accepted to highly rated colleges, nor are they adequately prepared for college. I have never encountered such rudeness and hatefulness from “Christian” people. Do yourself and your kids a favor and choose a different school.
My experience at Horizon Christian Academy was a very good one. I started there halfway through the 7th grade and ever since I have excelled in all areas from academic to social. Before I went there I was very shy and hated being in front of large crowds, by my senior year I was leading an animation class for the younger students and I was captain of both the football and soccer teams.
We've been at HCA for two years now. We had a great first year and love the character and leadership qualities of all teachers and staff. This second year, HCA has grown even stronger. I have an elementary child and middle school child. Both of my kids are challenged and are surrounded by people who are looking after their hearts. I love that my middle school child gets to go thru these awkward years in a loving, controlled environment that disciplines fairly and communicates wonderfully. I highly recommend Horizon Christian Academy!
The 4th grade teacher has no empathy toward children nor does she know how to deal with them unless they are being still and doing their worksheets quietly. I say worksheets because that is the education that has been presented to my child who is coming home with math work she was previously learning in first grade at her previous school. The academics are lacking and the faculty can not be bothered to get to know or care about the children on a personal Level. Extremely disappointed in our experience here, it is sad when a teacher is too busy tracking whether or not my daughter rustled a paper, dropped her pencil, or took too long in the bathroom caring for her braces to notice that my child is not being challenged and is bored. When a child complains the work is too easy there's a problem!
This is a great school if you want the small school feel. The teachers are very knowledgeable and kind. The students get along well together.
It's a good school and there are pros and cons of course. Anyone who comes here will love it!
We have many international students at my school. They blend in just like the rest of us. Since we are a Christian school, there isn't really any diversity when it comes to sexual orientation.
The school has a great guidance counselor that is always available whenever a student needs help. Tech labs are great and always available for student use also.
