its ok but usually sucks and the teachers are sometimes really bad for classes that you get. its not really a one star id say its more like a 1.9 /5.
Horace Greeley High School is a Great school for students who are invested in quality academics. The student life flourishes as there are 30+ clubs offerd, and strong sports teams. The school offers widespread support towards special need students like me making me full supported and set up for success. Due to where the school is located, there is a lack of diversity in the school. There has been countless bullying situations towards special needs kids in the school to
More diversity and inclusion would be great. Improve the direction given to new families. More assistance with college choice
Horace greeley is a highly competitive school with some amazing teachers and a very supportive community.
The school has excellent academics and even higher standards. You are expected to attend a top university and excel which can be very stressful. They hire very good teachers who are paid well. But the school struggles with diversity. there have been many major scandals. besides that, it is a great school for academics if that is what you are looking for.
Horace Greeley High School is academically very strong. If you go here, you will end up at an extremely good university and probably be set up for life. Most teachers are amazing and usually understanding. However, coursework is rigorous and you need to work hard. Students often compare themselves to each other so there may be some toxic energy within the school. Social life is average, although it can feel "cliquey" at times. If there was one thing I could say HGHS needs desperate improvement in, it would be diversity. The school is almost all white and taught by white teachers. More diversity would help students learn about the actual world, and not just be in the "Chappaqua bubble."
Horace Greeley is heavily inclined towards STEM and provides a multitude of research and competition opportunities for students pursuing the sciences and math.
Horace Greeley High School has one main priority: academics. They push students to be the best and smartest they can be. However, this causes many students to develop anxiety and stress over minuscule assignments or tests. Also, this school has little to no diversity amongst students and teachers.
Horace Greeley High School is a fantastic place to learn. It is a beautiful California style campus with a massive courtyard, perfect for student interaction. The teachers are all very inviting and warm, they will go out of their way to help a student in need. In addition, there is a wide variety of clubs, activities, and sports, ranging from freshman level to varsity level. Despite the recent instances of racism, 9/10 times the students are happy and energetic, willing to work hard and get into great colleges. Greeley is famous for getting students into Ivy League schools such as Harvard and Cornell.
Horace Greeley was a fine experience I’m grateful for my education. I wish i had more fun in high school though.
Academically, Greeley is an amazing school. The average SAT scores and GPA's among students are high, and students are constantly pushed to succeed by peers, teachers, and their parents. But because of this, there's often a toxic feeling of competition among Greeley students that causes everyone to be stressed all the time.
One of the worst things about Greeley is that everyone here lives in a bubble. The school is not diverse at all and most of the kids who go here are wealthy and have always been wealthy, and they have no idea what life is like outside of Chappaqua. The culture of the school as a whole isn't great either- there's very little school spirit, people are very cliquey, and students are often frowned upon when their schedule isn't completely made up of advanced classes. Socially, Greeley can be a nightmare, but the academics, facilities, and teachers here are amazing. If you're looking for a school to prepare you for college, Greeley is great for that.

This school was a real bummer. After all parents pay in taxes, the kids are just miserable. There is no community spirit, no loving of the Greeley Alma matar. Kids everywhere are walking around mumbling how much they despise the school and cant wait to leave.
The classes are all taught for the purposes of getting into a good college. The irony is is that colleges are not interested anymore in Greeley students. They are uninteresting, provincial and colleges assume that they are spoiled and indulged from the start. The result is intense, cut throat completion that literally defines the four years one is there.
There is racism, homophobia, sexual harassment, rampant use of drinking and drugs.

Throughout my high school experience at Horace Greeley High School, I felt that I've been prepared for college very well and academically challenged. However, the school lacks in diversity in both student body and faculty. I think that diversity in faculty is the first step in making the school more inclusive and diverse.
The only reason for such a high score is the LIFE School. There, students are really encouraged to shine and participate in their future. Real life knowledge is applied to real life situations and a light is cast on the shadowy surfaces of society. Students are challenged to re-evaluate their thoughts and support their statements with facts they've internalized and applied, not random ones they've memorized.
Horace Greeley is a great school if you want to send your child to a top university, but lacks in diversity and understanding of the world outside Chappaqua. They can't seem to integrate other cultures or people with different backgrounds and I wish they would try harder to educate their students about the struggles that other communities face less than 30 minutes away.
There are several teachers in the various departments, Math, English, Art who go out of their way to enrich your learning. The guidance department- Mr. Lander in particular - is extra helpful and insightful for college counseling and all the seniors get in to the TOP schools in the country. It is a work hard environment but the payoff is exceptional. I have the best friends EVER too.
I felt very prepared for university in work ethic, but I feel I missed out on learning a lot more about humanities and language. The humanities and language departments seem underfunded and undervalued, and I feel all students, regardless of what they go into, would have been at a higher advantage if Greeley cared more about how we did in these classes.
