Class of 2019 Review:
Pros:
Academics - has a very academically stimulating environment - teachers push students to pursue their curiosities, particularly through the school's science research and independent study programs.
Clubs - there are a wide variety of clubs and extracurriculars supported by the school.
Reputation - the school is very well recognized for its academic rigor by top universities.

Cons:
Competitive atmosphere - the competitiveness of the school's students can be stifling at times, as it seems people care more about getting into college than the students around them.
Stress - a natural product of the school's atmosphere and academic rigor - it can be a very stressful environment at times.

I overall did enjoy my four years at Greeley - best of luck to all incoming students!

Horace Greeley offers fantastic education opportunities throughout the four years. Teachers build students over time there so when the attend college there are no surprises. Academics are the most important, and students are pushed to take more high-level classes. Unfortunately, the competitive environment created makes students feel isolated and inadequate if they do not match the level the school sets for them. Many students feel pressured to be absolutely perfect in everything they do. Students who don't attend ivy league schools or get above a 30 in the ACT are looked down upon as inferior, while those students end up being able to succeed more in college that those who the school considered "perfect".
Horace Greeley is an amazing school in theory. I mean, my parents and I moved to Chappaqua SO I could attend. The things we learn are top notch, the technology available at our fingertips is state-of-the-art, and the teachers are phenomenal. But, the social norms here are atrocious. The habits the students practice academically is extremely unhealthy. Students brag about pulling all-nighters and taking as many AP classes as possible. This school, is basically just a machine for getting into good colleges. I remember my SECOND WEEK of freshman year people asking me what colleges I was looking at.
