Hoquiam has its challenges but overall it’s a great school with a really supportive community, I think people at hoquiam are very open minded and they have some very liberal views on how the world works
I enjoyed the company of most of the teachers, however the schooling itself I found to be not very challenging. I always planned on doing running start but I more so wanted to because I was just so bored of the information they were giving us. It felt like the bare minimum. I NEVER took schoolwork home.
I was not prepared for college or given the resources to find schools or scholarships. I felt that I would have to beg the administration for information and they were usually hesitant on giving it.
The teachers and staff are fantastic . They are always so happy and energetic. The students are very nice.
The AP English class was a great class and the HOMELINK program is ideal for those who work at their own pace.
It is my home town and I have never lived anywhere else. I love the school I went to and couldn't be anymore proud that I was able to graduate from there.
I have experienced plenty of highs and lows throughout my time as a Grizzly. I enjoyed the friends I have made, and the relationships teachers try to build with students. I wish there was more prep on things like this (scholarships, college, the hidden cost). There were several times where Hoquiam was not my favorite but, that was not the schools fault to a certain extent. There punishment system seems to follow old fashioned gender roles.
Most of the teachers were very nice. The students aren't the best. Learning here was a challenge but it was okay for high school.
Hoquiam High School offered a great education and is surprisingly accepting of diversity. My experience at HHS was that students from all different backgrounds/social groups were able to get along quite easily.
Small small school in a tight-knit community High graduation rates very low crime bullying anything like that great teachers who go the extra mile most students graduating on to the Grays Harbor community college and from there transfer to 4-year schools it's a place where your kids can go and you can feel safe. Great FBLA and sports programs.
HHS can do a better job making sure students stop HARRASSING, INTIMIDATING, and BULLYING!!! , Good students. Accountability is not a strength in this school. Students are not motivated to be RESPONSABLE OF WHAT COMES OUT OF THERE MOUTH !!
Small town, great environment! Perfect place to raise your kids to get all the support they need. The Community is constantly working to help the youth any way they can.
The office staff was quite unfriendly and hard to work with, from the perspective of a former-student who was trying to get a high school transcript.
The bond that teachers form with their students is very unique, always engaging in activities with each other and enjoying each other's company. These bonds form over the 4 years, making it hard to say goodbye to them.
This school should help students with personal problems and crack down on smokers.
They do what they can
Again, they do what they can with what they have.
