Hopewell Valley Central High School Reviews

It was always very fun and always felt like I had someone to go to. The teachers cared deeply about their students and so did fellow students.
Hopewell is a very very stick to it RICH "white" town. I am not exaggerating when I say there were 3 African American students who graduated in my class with me. I wish so badly there was more diversity. The teachers are awesome, most of them anyways :) They have a random drug testing policy where if you want to park at school or do after school activities you have to sign the waiver and they'll call you down at random to do a drug test in the nurse's office. other than all that, Hopewell is full of talented people. Most people end up going to some prestigious school because their families are fortunate enough to afford it. I am one of like 10 people going to community college. HS was just meh!
My name is Devyn and even though I was only here for one year I’m gonna say I love this school so much I don’t wanna leave the teachers are so wonderful and they bring a smile to my face every time I come in the building
During my high school experience with Hopewell Valley High School, I think the things they did best were providing teachers that were well versed and really understood the topics that they were teaching and could relay it to the students in a very effective manner. They did a great job of making announcements and keeping everybody on track throughout the whole year which made life easier. One of the worst parts of my experience though was how they handled discipline in some cases. Sometimes they were providing punishments for things that didn't need punishing and didn't punish those who repeatedly offended enough. They created almost like a prison system to check in and out of the bathrooms which made it almost impossible to use the restroom and return to class in a timely manner.
I have enjoyed my four years at Hopewell! There are loads of great electives and courses in general to take and for the most part, taught by great teachers! There are some fun events that I always enjoy like the pep rallys! Recitation is a really great opportunity to meet with teachers and take a chill pill every day. There are tons of great clubs to join and the sports are really fun!
Welcoming environment - open and inclusive. Strong academic offering. Well-rounded offering of clubs and extracurriculars.
Hopewell Valley Central High School has a large number of elective choices for students to pursue in the sciences, the arts and languages. There are a plethora of clubs to join and many extracurricular activities. The school offers a close-knit community while offering the options and class challenges of a larger school system.
supportive staff who generally make an effort to get to know students. competitive environment academically, although a wide variety of course and extracurricular offerings
As an African American graduate and parent, I am proud to say that HVRSD fully prepares their students academically for college, tech schools, STEM and entrepreneurial challenges and opportunities.
The region is not very diverse but works hard to be inclusive to all students.

I have found that my review of the Hopewell Valley High School has been deleted. How interesting. My son was bullied from the first in Stony Brook Elementary through at least his sophomore year at HVCHS. It wasn't until the school held two difference "encounters" on bullying when other students apologize to my son. I don't want to tell you about the guidance counselors - but suffice it to say - if your child's life is threatened - it's ignored. My son is now a young adult, finally diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, which I BEGGED for testing during his years in Hopewell. Not only is my young son's life irrevocably destroyed, but I am paying $11,000 per month for residential treatment. Sacrifice something else in your life and put your child in another school. Basically: RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!
Hopewell valley was a great school district to go to for athletes and popular kids. Anyone else fell through the cracks. Most teachers were good depending on the subject.
Teachers are great, the community is good. However, sometimes I feel as though the administration focuses too much of their energy on petty things, when that same energy could be used to really advance other aspects of the school and community that need it.
Teachers of Honors and AP courses were challenging and prepared me well for college. The climate among the student body could be far more inclusive, and the staff could have been better equipped to interact with and support a wider variety of students.
Hopewell Valley Central High School has helped me grow as a student and person over the past 4 years. I would like to see the amount the prepare students for college and what resources are available change.
This school has a long history of racism and has even surfaced in the news for it. Diversity is an absolute joke; everyone here is so rich and white it's like I'm attending a cheesecake. Some teachers are very good, others are very bad. Your experience heavily depends on the level of classes you take, and how lucky you get with the teacher lottery. All the sports with the most money suck, and the principal changes every year or two.
The teachers were very helpful and did a very good job of preparing me for my future. My teachers were very invested in making sure I am successful. The counselors are very helpful as well. The facilities are very nice and give many opportunities for the students. There are a lot of activities for the students to get involved.
Hopewell Valley students are supported by an excellent administration, and attentive staff. They have excellent sports and theater programs, the only thing missing in the school is their own pool!
