It is a very small school which limits a lot of your opportunities but you form great bonds with some classmates, along with teachers. Also have the opportunity to try out many sports with not a lot of competitiveness for a spot on the team.
Even as a parent, I can see that the majority of teachers don’t care about certain students as much as other ones. Some students are ostracized and there is severe bullying to students who may be different, shy, or seen as easy targets. Walking past certain students, I could hear the blatant racism in their conversations. It was appalling to hear and I’m very disappointed in the school for not doing anything about it.
The class sizes are VERY small and I appreciate having a closer relationship with students from other classes and teachers seem to be more involved with you. I'd like to see them move a little bit away from religion. Its WAY too emphasized and forced down your throat. Chapel is MANDATORY for students and teachers try to bring up God in every sentence, even when it's irrelevant.
As a Christian, it is very hard to find a private school that is closer to home and shares the same beliefs as me. I have been blessed with having the chance of being here, many of my friends from my private middle school are here and the drive is only 15 minutes. Though HVL is small it still gives me close-knit vibes and I am grateful that all the teachers are from WELS. I am able to ask teachers questions without worrying about not having time for it and since we have been able to go to face-to-face classes, I have been having an easier time finishing assignments and feeling like I'm in a class that cares.
The only thing that I would like to change is having HVL be more supported. The high school is very small, and money can be very tight, and HVL needs more TLC. It's also hard since school can be expensive but that is only because the school is again small and not having a lot of money to spend on rebuilding or modeling.

Huron Valley is a very close-knit school where everyone is family. I loved attending there and being able to learn in such a friendly and loving environment.
The athletics here are pretty good since everyone gets a chance at the team and you really have some memorable moments and you make great friends.
While providing a Christian learning environment, Huron Valley students receive a solid secondary education that promotes them to continue their learning after graduation. I can not say enough about the faculty's preparedness to pivot to remote learning during COVID-19. Communication has always been weekly and more often as needed. I have been able to communicate directly with teachers as my senior has worked toward graduation. There is cultural diversity because of an international student program and students attending from across metro Detroit. Counseling resources are available through a program. Those who play an instrument have opportunity to continue developing their talent.
HVL is like an extension of your family. The teachers truly care about the students and go out of their way to help them however they can. The small number of students gives many opportunities for one on one learning and many extra curricular opportunities.
I have two daughters that attend this school. The school feels like a family. Everyone cares for each other and the teachers work hard to help every student be successful.
It was awful and the only good thing is the food. That is all. have a good day. And God bless you and your loving families, but I would highly recommend not sending your student here.
I was taught very well here. It has prepared me for college, the teachers here are amazing. They spend lots of their time working one on one with students making sure they understand what they are taught. I had an amazing time here.
I enjoy the fact that they talk about God and involve him in everything, from academics to sports. The only thing that I would change is the fact that some people may not act like Christians. But, this rarely is a problem.
Huron Valley Lutheran High School is a great school to go to. If you are looking for a top education, with teachers who will do one-on-one with you, who is on the higher spectrum of ACT scores, this is the school to go to. I have had a great experience here. The teachers are willing to help when needed and the athletic program of HVL is outstanding.
School academics are great and so are the extra curricular opportunities! The overall experience with the school is great. Most people are involved in activities of volunteering with the school and school activities in general.
Everyone is very welcoming at our school. We are very focused on college and act prep. About 93% of our students that graduate attend college.
I love it here at HVL, I would never transfer even if i had the choice. The class sizes are small and everyone knows everybody.
I love HVL. It has small class sizes and I am given individual attention rom all of my teachers. If I could go through my high school experience I would and that's because if the great memories I have because of the school.
