Hoosic Valley Junior Senior High School Reviews

The environment is mostly conservative in terms of openness to new ideas, so that does seem constricting at times. Once you establish a stable friend group, school is quite easy to get through.
I love this school. The teachers are amazing. They all work very hard and they love the kids they work with. They are the best teachers I have ever met and I'm so glad I was able to attend Hoosic Valley. I wouldn't change anything about this school because everyone does their best to get their work done.
Hoosic Valley can be nice sometimes, but it's really out in the middle of nowhere. The majority of students are extremely small-minded and can be quite a bit racist. Besides the students, there are some nice teachers though, a few of them not so much. but overall the teachers are pretty great.
Extremely racist and homophobic. No support from administration or teachers. Horrible facilities, plumbing has backed up with sewage leaking throughout two wings, water from water fountains can be brown.
My son had a great high school experience with this school. the kind memories are made of.
My school is great because my guidance counselor is the reason I am still here because other than her and a few teacherseconds I wouldn't be here because of how students treat me
The US history teacher cares about his students and helps them when they are struggling he never let's you give up on yourself and he's always there to just talk.
ThIs is a small.school.everyone is pretty much accepted for who they are
I don't see any issues with race, ethnic or sexual orientation.

Many college courses are offered that will help.lighten the coursework I will have to take my freshman year of college
There are a few different clubs at this school that anyone can join, but I feel as if there is not enough. Although there aren't many clubs to join this school does offer a variety of sports.
I would go to this school all over again because the experience I had was very good. It is a very good academic school and I enjoy all of my classes. Athletics are also a huge part in why I like my school so much. All of the coaches are great and I was able to experience the New York State softball state championships. Besides playing a sport, everyone goes to support every sporting event including traveling up to three hours away to watch championship games. I would say a good portion of the school attended the games where our boys basketball and baseball teams won the New York State Championships. In our school all the teachers are very helpful and everyone is extremely supportive.
The overall majority of teachers at my school are very good at their job. They are very knowledgeable of what they are teaching and they are always available for extra help.
As my son is a senior, the overall experience has been positive and he has enjoyed the school and loves how close most everyone is. Sadly as a parent of younger kids I see many things changing and I'm not too happy with some of them. I think the biggest fault I can report is that some teachers don't care about the education of the students and they only see it has a job and a paycheck. My senior son had an overall positive high school education.
The dress code in warmer months should be a little more leanant when I comes to the girls shorts. It's very hard to find shorts that reache the girls fingertips when there arms are down. The stores don't sell them! Let alone girls won't wear longer ones. Don't get me wrong I don't want any girls bodies being exposed but I would hope school officials take into consideration what's available to buy.
Wish there were more electives available
Bullying has been at the forfront lately and has been very well taken care of. They have adopted a zero tolerance policy.
The teams at Hoosic Valley are very supportive of one another. The community is always behind these teams 100%. The turnout for the students games is fantastic. With the success of many of our programs, our teams sometimes have to travel pretty far away during sectionals or finals and the amount of people from the community that travel far is amazing. It goes to show that of teams show sportsmanship and team commrodity then the community will follow.
