My best experience in Hooks High School was that is was small, allowing the students to build bonds with each other and allowing us to interact with the teachers and ask questions we desperately needed in their classes.
My worst part of Hooks High School is how, since the school is so small, drama spreads like wildfire, and it is hard to avoid it all.
For change, I would like to see Hooks High School put more funds in activities such as UIL and Band, since they prioritize all their money towards all the sport teams.

I think this is a great school, and I believe that it will become even better. For a smaller school, it had many opportunities available and very supportive teachers. Additionally, this school offers many Dual Credit courses to help its high school students get college credit at a much more affordable price.
Hooks is a great place to raise a family, live and go to school. The housing is limited which has kept the school from exploding which is a good thing. The staff works well together to make sure students are able to participate in all activities. Football players and cheerleaders play in the band at halftime / Ag, Athletics, band and all the clubs work around one another so that kids can participate in everything and be successful in everything. All the sports teams are competitive as football has won 3 district championships in 4 years, and all sports made the playoff and all outside of football won 20 or more games. Band usually gets all 1’s and Ag is always successful at all events. Hooks also placed 1st in UIL academics this past year. I am very proud to be a Hooks Alum and as most will tell you: once a Hornet always a Hornet. If you like extracurriculars and you are looking for a smaller to medium size school so you can be in multiple activities, you have found it.
Hooks High School is an awesome school. They give us a lot of opportunities to expand and a lot of room to grow as young adults.
School is limited in terms of what classes they offer and what clubs and activities they offer as well. I would love a golf team.
Hooks High school offered a great high school experience with support from the admin and teachers. The school offers many dual credit courses and has good support for students
Hooks isn’t the worst school but It definitely needs some improvement. Too many kids struggle with nearly getting truancy for simple sicknesses that cause them to miss school for a few days. We can all agree that in this day and age, coming to school sick is a huge no. Yet these students have no other choice. The education isn’t horrible, but some classes do need some improvement and there are some teachers who clearly have favorites. Other than that, for Hooks being a small school, the students are very accepting of new people. Most of them have been with each other since they were babies so that was nice to see. So far I have thoroughly enjoyed my time there besides a few inconveniences.
Great school! Wonderful programs with plenty to do no matter what you are into! Teachers are always willing to work with you and help you in whatever you are struggling with. The district is in top with everything they bring to the community.
I would rate my experience with Hooks High School a 10/10. Hooks provides its students with the opportunity to do multiple extracurricular activities. Hooks High School challenges its students in the classroom and provides a comfortable learning environment. Hooks High School goes above and beyond to make every student feel important and respected.
What I like about this high school is the many great teachers. Teachers such as Mrs. Kuhn, Dr. Thomas, and Mrs. Poteet are the ones that keep the school running. Administration members such as Mrs. Shannon are funny but serious and hardworking when they need to be. The only downside is the focus on the athletic department. Most funding goes there and there are strict rules on attendance so that we receive more funding, which usually goes to the athletic program. The good teachers hold this school together.
I graduated from Hooks in 2017. By far, the greatest part of Hooks High School is the options for concurrent credit classes through Texarkana College. The teachers were excellent at teaching the material and encouraging me to do my actual best.
While I am aware that Hooks High School is not the best by far, I have enjoyed my time there and would not take my time back for anything.
What I liked about Hooks High School is the fact that not only the teachers but the principal and councilors help you on whatever you needed. Clubs, sports, and the diversity are great.
I moved here my Freashman year. Right off the bat I enjoyed it here. The people are great and he teachers are great. The only down side was the administration. Some of their rules don’t make any sense at all, but over all it is a great school.
Hooks High School is not a very large school. Being a smaller school the budget is smaller leaving us with less resources. However the experience there is great. The student body is full of great kids in great town where everyone is a friend. I have attended Hooks all my life, and I have to say I wouldn't have rather spent the young years of my life anywhere else,
I have enjoyed my years at Hooks High School. I feel I am ready for college due to my academics and teachers at HHS.
Hooks is a very small school, making it easy to find and remember the rooms. It's a very friendly school also. Many of the teachers are so nice here, they're almost like family! Everyone helps each other out and most everyone are friends with each other. I would like to change our lunch though. I understand our budget but i think we'd all like it to change. Hooks overall is an outstanding school and the staff work hard to make it that way!
