Homewood-Flossmoor is one of the best all around public high schools in the area. I transferred from another high school within the south suburbs whose academic level and rigor did not compare, yet the staff at HF helped me adequately adjust to the much-needed challenging environment. I quickly made friends, some lifelong, and had some of the best teachers who I continue to stay in contact with. Working at other high schools, their community environment and facilities are no match. I was able to participate in activities, clubs, and sports where coaches/staff were amazing to work with. As neither of my parents went to college, I had no clue what to do but support staff did a great job of ensuring all students applied to and were informed about colleges/universities and that process. I was even able to take AP courses and earn some additional college credit while I was still a student there. I will forever appreciate HF and the education and experience I attained there. I really enjoy the diversity of students at HF. The majority of people there are very accepting and friendly. Also, school spirit is big there! One thing I would like for the school to change is the communication with the parents/guardians. Some incidents could have been avoided there if the parents were informed correctly, and therefore able to help out administration solve any issues in the school before they turned into larger ones. Other than that, great school!
HFHS has an incredible second to none academic coursework selection. Students of all educational levels get a wide variety of common core subjects such as English, Math & Science. HFHS also has a wide variety of extra-curricular and fine arts course to chose from. Examples include small engine repair, photography, broadcasting, child development, theater, and more!
