I like the academic challenges given to me at Homestead High School. My favorite would have to be the Latin program, which I fell in love with, especially due to the teacher, Magistra Wallach. Latin made me do something I never saw myself doing. I ran for the Latin Club Board at the end of my freshman year, and to my surprise, won! I loved being Parliamentarian so much that I ran and won again! After serving as Parliamentarian for 2 years, I decided to run for President at the end of my senior year. This school year, I will be the President of the Homestead Latin Club and cannot wait to grow as a leader and person.

My main issue would be the administration's focus on athletics over academics. Yes, Homestead's athletic program is great and accomplished, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be a balance between the two. Athlete/Sports team success is highlighted more often than academic achievements.

I love Homestead! The teachers are great, the principal takes matters into his own hands if deemed necessary, and there are many classes to choose and learn from. The only difference I wish would see is more attention on the Fine Arts Department, in which visual arts seems forgotten most of the time.
Many amazing teachers, along with a wide range of extracurricular activities and sports! I have always felt comfortable in the school, and when getting ready to apply for college the counselors were very helpful.
