Got a great education here, staff will work with you to make sure you succeed, learning structure is personalized based on student needs, you can get a lot of freedom by doing well. Not a lot of diversity, in my last year racism, homophobia, and transphobia were major issues, the school is 90% white.
I did not like our highschool it does not prepare you for adult life at all, other then the CTE shops there arent any very good teachers.
I like it. Its one of two options in my town, and I enjoy and look forward to classes every day! I wish there was more of a theatre program, if any. We have a wonderful theatre but the school only utilizes it for the annual Choir musical. That is the only opportunity for people to get on our stage!
People might complain because they are children, but I believe our school does a great job. Homer high school serves free lunches and sponsors many extracurricular classes such as ceramics, construction, welding, drama, choir, band, art, natural resources, and Nutrition and cooking. They do fundraising and senior service projects which helps the community. We have FOLs (focus on learning) at our school which allows us to choose what we do for the last class of the day on Tuesday-Thursdays which can be anything, from ping-pong, movies, board games, study sessions, D&D, or whatever else our teachers come up with. We do bystander green dot training, and have many AP classes to choose from. As well as sometimes serving hot pizza and cookies at the end of the day, and having extra snacks you can buy if the days lunch doesn't suite your tastes. We have many sports you could choose from in every season including winter sports like skiing, hockey, and many other sports. We also have a pool.
Homer High is a great high school. The arts are treat as importantly as academics. The teachers are great and dedicated to their job.
A great school very focused on student success through academics. Almost all students pass each semester, this is partly because there is no D letter grade. Students either pass with a C or above or fail. Many students are involved in extracurricular activities. Athletics is another large focus for HHS.
I like how the counselors make you feel welcome to ask any questions. I also like how the school has little to no bullying. I would like to see the change in teacher availability to students, and fairness in the punishing of students.
HHS is, in general, a very good school. Most of the teachers a very involved and willing to help if you ask. However, the administration is terrible. They are clueless about the lives of the students. Also, they pick upon high achieving students while letting students that don't put any effort in doing whatever they want.
Homer High School does a good job of preparing students while receiving very little funding. Teachers are very good, some materials such as textbooks are old and in poor condition.
While attending Homer High I had some great teachers, and then many that were not so great. The academics were very average, the classes all seemed pretty simple for students who paid attention and tried to do well. The school was very safe as well, and did a good job preparing students on what to do in case of any type of emergency.
The school itself is great. The teachers and coaches are fantastic. The students are okay, some of them are nice but they are closed off to new people. It is hard to integrate into the school culture.
Homer High School located in the most beautiful fishing town in Alaska, Homer. HHS has a wonderful line of staff, they are there to help and make you successful. The school is fairly quiet with roughly only 400 students, this small town learning environment is perfect for a safe and high quality education.
It was easy to use and it had wonderful options in the filter section, signing up was quick. This was a helpful site
The quality of a HHS education is high. Many cliques.
All of my classes are fairly reasonable in all aspects.
I mostly stick to my business and with my friends.
I don't eat cafeteria food a lot but when I do it is pretty good and they have pretty healthy options.
