Holyoke High School is a good ordinary high school. If you live in the area I suggest you go there because it provides you with a better education than any other high school in the city. There’s many sports to play and many clubs to join. If there’s not a club you like, you can even make your own-with permission of course. There’s many people you can meet. We have a Restorative Justice program in the school which helps students be at peace. We have an Ethnic Studies Program which opens people’s minds and lets students view history in other perspectives. We have a great music program and amazing teachers like Mark Todd. The food isn’t too bad, but I suggest bringing your own food from home. I honestly loved my experience there even if at times I wouldn’t, but overall I wouldn’t change what school I went to.

Holyoke High School is a place where anyone can succeed based on their own hard work and merit. We have recently been taken over by the Massachusetts Department of Education for our poor test scores and grades. This leads many to believe that Holyoke High School simply has bad teachers, but this couldn't be further from the truth. I have had dozens of amazing teachers who have challenged and inspired me over the past four years. All the resources that students need to succeed are available to them. The reason we see poor numbers coming out of Holyoke is simply a lack of care for education from students and their parents. Unfortunately the administration chooses to cater to these students as opposed to the students who are truly dedicated to their education. The teachers are amazing so don't blame them.
Looking back to my four years of Holyoke High School there are things I would've done differently such as the classes that I chose. Although I wish to change some of the classes I chose, I believe each benefited me by being academically challenging. In the first 2-years, I had been apart of the volleyball team. This helped me get comfortable in the transition of being in a new school environment, it also helped in meeting new people and creating friends. One thing I would change about Holyoke High School is having more choices in the classes we take.
