Overall it has been a very positive experience. I was able to connect with people right away, and make long lasting friends. As far as academics, Holy Names has challenged and pushed me to go farther than any other school. It has allowed me to struggle and succeed in many classes. My first year was challenging because it was mostly online, but the following years have been intellectually stimulating. If I could change anything, it would be the homework load. It has been a lot to finish in one night.
I love going to Holy Names Academy. Coming from a co-ed school, it has been really refreshing to be surrounded by women who are as dedicated and focused as I am. I have also noticed that even though Holy Names is still a predominantly white community, we have a very strong community of people of color that I am very proud to be apart of. If there was one thing that I would change, I would want the diversity of the community to increase. However I feel that there is such a welcoming energy within the POC community that no woman of color in this school would feel alone.
The teachers are amazing and care deeply about both your academics and you as a person. However, there could be greater emphasis on mental health and lessening the homework load as it can be overwhelming at times
My experience with Holy Names Academy has overall been a positive one. I found that an all girl environment created a more secure and comfortable atmosphere to share my opinions, be more confident, and learn more about myself. Academics at HNA are competitive, but also very collaborative with many available resources to aid the students in their learning and school work, as well as very flexible teachers. The social environment is awesome, I found a great group of friends while also having many friends outside of that group. Athletics were also competitive and I learned to work well with others. One part of the experience that leans more to the negative side is that it's not a traditional high school experience. Since it's an all girls school, there isn't a football team and dances are also different because it's more difficult to find dates. Overall, HNA is a great school with admirable characteristics all around and I wouldn't pick any other school.
I really like the school spirit at HNA and my favorite school tradition is Jogathon! I have met a lot of great people at this school, and I know I will have these friends for a lifetime. The teachers really care about the students and are engaged in your education and want to see you succeed.
Throughout my time attending the all-girls, catholic institution of Holy Names, I have learned so much about myself and my needs and wants for the future. I have been involved with many extra curriculars along with varsity softball for all 4 years, drama, work study, and music. Holy Names is a place that grows and nourishes your creativity, and academic ability. When I first showed up at HNA, I didn't have a good relationship with studying or really doing homework. Holy Names disciplined me tuned me into the hardworking person I am today. Since it's all girls, there is a huge and loving community very much like that of a family. I myself have 3 sisters, though because of Holy Names it feels like I have many more. The teachers are excellent and want nothing less than to see you succeed. Every girl I meet at HNA is so positive and so overwhelmingly kind. I fell in love with the school the second I stepped foot in it for my shadow day, and I'm still in love with it.
I really enjoyed the academics at Holy Names. The courses are appropriately challenging and the teachers are actually interested in whether you learn. I also think Holy Names does a great job at keeping each student accountable, making sure that we're keeping up with our grades, college applications, etc...However, I did not enjoy my school's environment. The environment here is very cliquey and it lacks diversity. For these past 4 years, I've felt very left out. I don't think the school does a good job at making each student feel comfortable and welcomed.
Great school filled with great teachers and a wonderful community. I think that my experience was particularly enriching and valuable due to the numerous sports I was a part of and the lasting friendships made from them.
Holy Names Academy is the most difficult experience I have ever had the pleasure of partaking in. This school will break you, reshape you into a strong, independent person, and thoroughly prepare you for college. It's long nights spent studying, it's crying in the bathroom after getting a C on a test, it's determination in the face of adversity. This school is for someone serious about their education. It is not for those who aren't willing to put in the work. There are a few things that I don't like about this school:
1. The cafeteria
2. The mental health resources.
The cafeteria is overpriced for the actual quality of the food. They also don't put an emphasis on healthy eating.
This school doesn't do a lot for mental health. They push you to your breaking point, and I've seen bad things happen to the kids at this school. The teachers sometimes care, but most don't. The counselors don't have a ton of resources available for students who are struggling. Other than that, it's great

I have loved my time at holy names and met great people, but it’s definitely not for everyone. If you struggle teachers will always help but there is more work compared to my friends at other schools
Ever since going to holy names I have been excited to go to school! I now see school as an opportunity to learn while still having fun. The teachers and staff are all there to help you and are genuinely caring for your growth as a student. The assemblies and student activities are well organized and thoughtful. Their is almost a club for everyone from marvel club to the Dome, a student run newspaper. I really enjoy the loving community and academics at holy names.
My daughter grew from a fourth grader wanting to attend Holy Names Academy because its building looked like Hogwarts, to a rising ninth grader wanting to attend for the all-girls academic excellence, to now a high school senior with a nuanced understanding of an all-girls high school experience. Her confidence and sense of self as a young woman has grown impressively. The faculty and staff transitioned to 100% online during the pandemic without skipping a beat, and bent over backwards to accommodate the students during the many months of online school. Our experience has been wonderful!
If you are considering sending your child to Holy Names or if you are looking at the school for yourself, go here. The faculty are beyond supportive and accommodating, the administration listens to the students, the academics prepare you for college, and you will make lifelong friendships. The college counselors will support you throughout your years here and can guarantee you admission to college. Time and time again I am so glad I decided to go here and while I did think of transferring during my sophomore year due to the rigor of academics, I am so so glad I stayed. I would also recommend joining the crew team. They race on the National level and have sent many rowers to represent the United States on a junior and senior level. You will also find your best friends on that team. Apply to Holy Names Academy and get an education and experience unlike any other.
I am a senior and my experience with Holy Names has been nothing short of amazing. The academics are hard, you will be told a million time to "balance your schedule." Each class prepares you for the next year, and college. The sports are incredible and the competition makes you a better athlete. The communities within different sports and clubs are truly so special and not to be taken for granted. HNA also has many different opportunities outside of basic extracurriculars, such as traveling. The Barcelona trip is absolutely amazing!! Regarding college, it is 110% guaranteed that you will be ready for college once you're a senior. The college counselors there are incredible and will help you every step of the way.
My experience at Holy Names Academy was life-changing. Daily, I was inspired and empowered by faculty, staff, and my peers. It is an amazing community that works to make a positive impact on the world and instill confidence in young women. My academic experience was amazing and challenging, which allowed for a lot of personal growth. I was taught efficient problem-solving skills which translated into my daily life making me more successful. The student body and teachers have made me into the joyful, determined, hard-working person I am. There are so many opportunities to express yourself, and I am grateful for my time at Holy Names.
A supportive and encouraging all-girls community that lifts each other up and readily prepares students for college
Holy Names is outstanding academically. Socially it is not the best. Very little normal clubs or ways to get everyone involved. Teachers care and look out for students.
