Unique in that it has a student body diverse in socioeconomic and geographic backgrounds. However, the racial diversity is somewhat lacking, but it is still present and the school sets goals to increase diversity. First, the administration needs a lot of revamping. The school thinks that it is the most prestigious school in the area when it is not, and the administration will give you a lot of pushback. Second, the student culture. Though the teachers are absolutely phenomenal, the students often do not live up to that same standard. The honors and AP students are much different from the standard level. Third, college placement. The guidance department works incredibly hard to give students resources and work with them, but it is VERY hard to get in to the top 20 schools let alone the top ten. You will get scholarship money, but this school is better for getting kids a full ride to an OK college than getting them into the Ivy League (or even top catholic schools like Georgetown).
Review Holy Ghost Preparatory School
Holy Ghost is simply a phenomenal place to grow into an adult. I can't imagine being better prepared in college to write a paper, deliver a speech, write a lab report, or take on a leadership role in a student organization. The teachers at HGP are caring, and by senior year, you'll be happy to call some of them life-long friends. There is truly an aspect of brotherhood among classmates that shows itself most when one of the boys is in trouble. The school has world-class sports and after-school programs, and the moderators of each program are second-to-none. Attending Holy Ghost was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I'm proud to be the person i am today because of my time at HGP.
I give a lot of credit to my high school teachers for how well they prepared me for the college work load. I did not realized how prepared I was until I noticed how well I was able to manage all of my work compared to other students in my classes. I was given the perfect amount of foundation in all academic areas that helped me succeed up to this point in my university studies. Teachers at Holy Ghost Prep always taught to the best of their abilities, and differentiated for students who still needed the extra help in their respective subjects. I remember always entering school excited to learn because my teachers always prepared lessons that were meaningful, relatable, and engaging. Because of this, participation was always at a high in the classroom. My teachers created a classroom community that was conductive to learning. They always showed high interests in their students and went out of their way to ask how our day was or what our plans were for the weekend. Teachers at HGP did not only show up to deliver knowledge, but to create relationships with the students and their families. It was a true sense of community at Holy Ghost because of the teachers. In fact, because of my teachers, I have been inspired to become a teacher myself. I give all of my credit to my high school for leading me to this path.
