My time at Holy Cross as a two year transfer student was interesting so to say. I felt as if although a family was made there, there was a lot things wrong. I felt as if many things were one sided and i felt as if i didn't belong most times in that school. Some teachers i can say gave me the time of my life and i created a bond with them that i will never forget but some were also very quick to judge without hearing the point of view of students. When at Holy cross it felt as if we had no freedom as students to express the fun, the enjoyment of High School. At most times it felt as if i were in a prison not allowed to do the things i love because it would ruin the image of people higher up and the school. They didnt care about the students, they cared about themselves. When we as students tried to express the fun we were having at Holy Cross, they were quick to shut it down and even try to kick us out because they thought we were having too much fun.
When I first arrived at Holy Cross, it was during the pandemic, where I had to take my freshmen year. I was okay with a few of my classes. It wasn't giving me too much trouble, but it did hinder my potential to take AP classes. During my sophomore year, my classes weren't that much harder, but due to a procedure, I had to go back to online learning for 6 months. It became harder online for a lot of my classes since some of the teachers were all in class, while I was online. Now that I am in my junior year, not only have I lost the majority of my honor classes and/or potential for AP courses and I am in regular classes due to scheduling, I am not happy with Holy Cross. The students here are very chaotic and cause a lot of trouble. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend anyone coming to Holy Cross, especially if they are a grade A student.
My experience at Holy Cross High school has been very influential in my development as not only a student, but a well rounded young adult. The courage, passion, and focus I put into my academics helped me achieve high grades. The drive of some of the staff is clear through classroom activities especially in the small classroom setting Holy Cross is able to provide. The encouragement along with discipline allows for students to thrive as they continue on their journey even if some aren't as understanding in the moment.
