Holy Cross Catholic Academy Reviews

Having several children attend Holy Cross, I believe that the school and its staff have prepared my children for college and beyond. Having a Christ focused education has shown my family that faith can flourish in our secular world. My children have been involved in athletics, academic competitions, arts (choir and drama), and speech and debate. The teachers and coaches have always challenged students to live to their true potential. I could not imaging a better place for my family to be educated.
The student to teacher ratio plays a big factor in getting the education that one needs and the attention. It's a Catholic school that goes through grades 6th-12th and is really a family more than a school. It offers a strong education and very well staffed with great teachers that care and want the best possible education for me.
Holy Cross is in a transition stage. After a period of decline and inadequate management, it is growing and on its way to being a very good center of education. The community over everything else is why I continue to love it, even over sports and academics. During times of struggle, Holy Cross's small-school feel, excellent community, and low student-to-teacher ratio have encouraged me to be my best and have hope for the future.
To teach the Christian faith, you have to see it, believe it, and go to Mass as you can do here. You can take a look at the reviews of 1 star, and I can say that two of the reviews the student and parent did not like the Catholic rules of the Christian faith. This school will not sway from Catholic teaching. I love it that it's Catholic and so Diverse and Ecumenical. There's over 23% student population that is not Catholic. Online reviews will not give justice to any school; you will need to visit to see the excellent teaching of the Christian Faith.

Holy Cross Catholic Academy offers and array of extracurricular activities. This small private school forms connections that extend into adulthood. The teachers focus on individual students and the unique qualities they bring to the classroom. Everybody works together to achieve a common goal. Holy Cross's motto, "We believe, We desire, We do," contains the essence of what the school is all about. This school prioritizes religion and academics. At the TAPPS State Music Competition, Holy Cross's choir has consecutively won the championship for two years. At the TAPPS State Academic Competition, Holy Cross placed first in the past year.
I feel like my son is safe while he is at school.
The students are encouraged to participate in all extracurricular activities that are offered. The students are also able to help in the community with volunteer work.
I enjoy the fact that my son is able to participate in a lot of extracurricular activities.
The school uses security measure appropriate for the surrounding area and enforces rules protecting the well-being and interests of the students. The school also provides for the mental health of students and an atmosphere that promotes personal respect of others.
Student frequently earn state and national recognition in extra-curricular competitions.
Holy Cross provided a community that sought learning and an atmosphere that directed students toward higher education. Students left Holy Cross well-prepared for college and still connected to the school community. I left Holy Cross, after one year, feeling that I had discovered family members.
All the teachers show enthusiasm for the subject they teach and are interested in student engagement in the learning process. Teachers seek out students for extracurricular activities when the student shows interest or aptitude in the subject of the activity. Students are encouraged to seek knowledge outside of the curriculum for their personal development.
This school does not adhere to the Catholic principles that is should uphold, love, trust, faith and community. The education students receive here is only slightly better than a few of the public school options. The administration does not care or wish to change or deal with problems, instead they lose great families because they would rather stick their head in the sand or blame the victim.
Has to share cafeteria with elementary school next door.
Students have a very limited amount of things that can do outside the school.
If I could give Holy Cross a negative rating, I certainly would. Honestly, this is the worst school you could send your children to. The administration is joke and is too caught up in Diocesan politics; the school and sports facilities are either nonexistent or old and quickly falling apart; many of the excellent teachers have retired or switched to other schools. The worst thing about Holy Cross, however, is the student body. The students at HCCA don't take school seriously, are rude and disrespectful to the teachers, and are cruel to other students. I know so many families who were forced to leave Holy Cross because their child was bullied and the administration did nothing to fix the problem. I know that the idea of a Catholic school seems very alluring, and the Amarillo Diocese definitely markets this school as the very best, but this school in no way lives up to the "Catholic" values it preaches.
