At Holston High School, the teachers really care about the students. Everyone wants to help others succeed. The only thing that I have against the school is that they don't really prepare students for college.
I enjoyed the closeness of the entire school and the teachers made school enjoyable. The teachers always made sure that you were doing good and that if you needed anything that they would get it for you.
I love the fact that we are a small school. You really get to know the teacher, administration and students. I would like to see school lunches to start to taste better!
It's a very good school but there are always a few bad apples in the bunch that are just a huge downside. Other than that it's a pretty average school.
It is very peaceful, and full of amazing people. The teachers really care about the future of the students and want to get you where you need to be. Although it is small, the people here make the best out of every situation and make you want to be here. It is truly an amazing place with great people to be around.
I have attended Holston throughout all of my high school career. This school is beautiful, friendly, and is the ideal small school to enroll in. However, this school, like any other one, has its major downfalls. Although the teachers care A LOT about their students and their subjects, not many honors and AP courses are offered here, which frightens the seniors because they don't know what to expect when they attend college next year. Almost every student is involved in a club, but only the most basic clubs are offered here- I wish there was a bigger variety. We are very sport-oriented, but the same students are involved in everything. Parents are very involved, but only the elite families. The school is very safe. We always have an officer at the school, and we often have drug dogs visiting us to ensure that we have a drug-free campus. Although this school has a few flaws, I would not trade my experience as a cavalier for any other school experiences in the country.
Police officer always present. Very safe
Softball and FCA are amazing
Everyone in the school is very supportive.
The school administration handles school-wide policies and disciplinary actions very well here.
The sports programs are great here, however the coaches are very political. It only matters who your mom and dad are, they don't base playing time off of talent unfortunately.
All of the school resources and facilities are great, however there could be more of diverse and intriguing classes offered.
The health and safety policies at my school are very helpful in most things: such as personal safety, special security measures, police and safety services, the school nurse, health programs, and resources. However, bullying at my school could be handled better by taking extra precautions and making better repercussions for those who enforce bullying.
There is not a wide diversity concerning racial differences. If there was, I feel like there would be no problem with more diversity. Concerning subjects such as sexual orientation, I do feel like the students are not open to these ways.
Most teachers at my school are fairly modern with their teaching habits. This modern way of teaching can better the students by being able to communicate in ways other than the class overview.
The food is not as up to date as it could be. There are many days that students do not eat and instead buy from the vending machines. Most of the food is somewhat healthy but not particularly good.
I enjoy going to my school, there are many friendly students and helpful teachers. It is a very small school where most of the people get along and work effectively together.
