What I like about Holmes High School, is the spirit organization. We support our sports programs and are always there for each other and use different activities like dance, cheer, pep squad to show our spirit/love for our school and what I would want to change is maybe make more freedom for students so school is more fun! More afterschool clubs, producing opportunties for scholarships and just to have students put out input to make this school better.

I graduated from Holmes High School in 2016 and was happy to call myself a Husky. The reason being that I was involved in a lot of extracurricular activities such as national honor society, choir, Spanish national honor society, English honor society, interact club, photojournalism, and volunteer work. The school provided me opportunities to be active in the community while also learning important values that I still carry with me. Furthermore, some changes that I would like to see include more focus on academics and the fine arts. The reason is that their focus was on sports. Another thing I would like to see change is the size of the cafeteria its small and not able to house most of the students since more kids go there now.
When I first moved to Holmes I was under the impression that I was attending a "bad" or "ghetto" school. Holmes gets this rep ONLY because of its location right on the verge of the westside of the city. But coming from two other high schools, I experienced something I never had in high school, genuine staff, teachers, and students. Every teacher I ever had pushed me in their own GENUINE way to be the best student and to attain the most outstanding college skills. I must admit, many teachers have different styles of teaching. Some may raise their voice, some might even excuse you from class if you are not focused. But at the end of day every administrator, teacher, counselor were all at graduation, watching their children walk the stage.
