I was drawn in with the involvement they encourage of the parents. My son, now in High School, a more receptive, believe it or not, community for him, is excelling in his academics. With a 3.4 currently. At the academy, he received, a,b and c's. turning work in late, A or D he didn't care. He shared after leaving the school, he was bullied and the school had not contacted me a few times during these episodes, which infuriates me. This staff doesn't know how to work with gifted children. My sons IQ was tested at 132. You don't want to pigeonhole a young brilliant mind. We stayed the full 8 years so I have no comparison if your choosing an elementary in Holly. He very much disliked being at the Academy. If you feel you may have a unique child, gifted, a little quirky, maybe speak with the other Elementary principles. Go with your gut after you speak with them. You can't be wrong, look at you reading reviews, doing your best with what information is out there.
We love Holly Academy, but it definitely is a commitment for both the parents and kids. We like the curriculum - pushing our kids to do their best. We also like the structure (school uniforms, repercussions for bad choices etc). These are all things we teach at home.
There are pros and cons to every school - you just have to find the right fit for your kids/family.
