I attended Holderness from 1976-1978 and then graduated from the Harrow School in London in 1979, followed by graduating from Yale in 1983.

Mr. Henderson, my History teacher (and considered the most difficult), challenged how I thought and wrote about history. I credit Mr. Henderson and Holderness with giving me the skills and push to achieve the best I can.

I also ran Varsity Cross Country under Mr Staud. He used to drive us 10 miles down a road and drop us off and say "see you back at school ". It was the 70's! We had a great team! I have continued running ever since.

If you are considering Holderness, take my experience as a vote Yes.

This school is impressive for its emphasis on character. The students are challenged to become their best selves in the classroom, on the athletic fields, in the arts and in social interactions. The rigorous academic curriculum, coupled with a committed and caring faculty and staff, push students to excel in a supportive environment. The student body is comprised of hard working, spirited, well balanced young adults striving to become great citizens. The focus on building a cohesive community to learn and live in promotes strong bonds among all members of Holderness. This setting develops motivated, independent, disciplined students eager to contribute to Holderness and the world beyond. We never dreamed we would send our children to boarding school, but this is one special place, and we are grateful.
I believe Holderness School prepared me for my collegiate experience as a student athlete. The teachers are truly invested in both the academic and athletic programs, and the culture of the school is focused on being a family. You will know everyone by their names and the standards of the school allows you to make instant connections that will be there for the rest of your life. The small student body allows for excellent student to faculty ratio and a true holistic approach of education for each student. Holderness sits in a beautiful part of the country, snuggled up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Holderness School's connection to the outdoors is unmatched, with programs like Outback, which is a conversation starter for any alum. Going here was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and has prepared me for years to come.
