COVID-19 Update for Prospective Students and Families:
Hillside is an educational institution, and we understand that education is not limited to academic knowledge or what ends up on a transcript. Education is also self-knowledge, and we are all learning about ourselves during this time. As a school, we care about the students as people as well as scholars, and are trying to build support and comfort into our online classes along with content kno... Learn More

I attended Hillside from 8th to 12th grade. What an exceptional experience! I have never encountered teachers who care more about their students' education, growth and development than at Hillside. The family values upon which the school was founded shine through the curriculum at every opportunity. Hillside challenged me in so many ways from college-level history papers starting in ninth grade to an emotional understanding of myself and my peers, something I wouldn't understand the importance of until much later. After graduating in 2009, I obtained an engineering degree at Stanford University and now work in the medical industry. Nearly 10 years later the academic and life lessons Hillside provided me are still some of the most important I have gained throughout all my education, and the campus and staff hold a very dear place in my heart. I highly recommend your child spend as much time there as possible.
Three of my children attended Hillside, and all thrived. I loved the nurturing environment, where my children felt wanted by teachers and students. I loved the academic excellence in a non-threatening, kind culture where everyone could succeed. I loved the fabulous school plays and history feasts, the superb art my children created in many medias. I love the love of learning my children still possess, through their college years and now in their career years. Hillside Student Community was a great gift to our family.
Very small, welcoming, friendly school. Excellent interactive college-prep education. My child found their voice here, and has the courage, ability and desire to tackle new situations and novel experiences. They easily mix with people of all ages and backgrounds, and seamlessly advocate for themselves in any situation. On the academic side, my child is advanced in several subjects, and Hillside met their needs quite well, even beyond the stated curriculum. The teachers are passionate about their subjects, and make meaningful connections with the kids as individuals. It is a good school for gifted kids, particularly those who may be considered a little 'quirky', and are looking for a school where they feel at home, and "belong". 12th grade is spent in the WA dual enrollment Running Start program, and by the end of their high school experience, the students are more than ready for the college of their choice.
